Stories and commentary both for and against secession.

To be added or taken off this list, please send a FR mail to RKBA Democrat. DISCLOSURE: I'm ANTI-secession, but I'll attempt to administer the ping and prayer list fairly for seceshers, ejectors, and anti-seceshers of Good Will. With a huge standing military and militarized law enforcement, it is tempting to think that the nation-state is secure from any 1861-like breakup. I'm not so sure. Let the rot continue for awhile and see. The number of Bolsheviks in Tsarist Russia were only around 25,000 in a nation of 160 million. Yet Lenin was able to persuade and terrorize enough army units to revolt against the state. The Reds were met in combat by other units, the Whites.

By the way, am I the only one who thinks there's a creepy resemblance between Ted Cruz and Joe McCarthy?

Yes, some of these arguments go back to the founding of the republic. And the paranoid style of American politics, exemplified by Tailgunner Joe, is deep. But the breakdown in governance has reached a level not seen since the eve of the first Civil War. So is the tea party conviction that everyone else is trying to "change their way of life." When Lincoln said, "A house divided against itself cannot stand."

The middle Sentence, WTH?

Who writes like that? It's reading from the mind of a Hyper-active Hamster.

Changes the Subject and then moves on, Drive by Media indeed.

Thank you for Posting Democrat.

"The billionaires who bankroll the tea party..."

We who've been involved with the actual Tea Party laugh uproariously in your general direction.

My local Tea Party group has never received a dime from anyone with deep pockets. It's entirely supported by small donations from average citizens. Sorta like FR.

“By the way, am I the only one who thinks there’s a creepy resemblance between Ted Cruz and Joe McCarthy?”

The liberal revival of the ‘Joe McCarthy’ boogey man is hilarious. They’re angry because Joe was RIGHT. One of the best senators Wisconsin ever had. He rattled the commies so much, they’re still shaken today.

With regard to secession.

PLEASE! We would love to part ways with libtard-land. They’d all be dead in 2 years. Not enough taxes coming in to support their SNAP cards, etc.

His prose is dripping with arrogance and hatred. He doesn’t even try to hide it.

“The reality is that almost all states of the New Confederacy — the old South, plus parts of the Great Plains and intermountain West — are net takers.”

Really? Then you should be glad to get rid of us. I’ll be glad to have you choke down that $80 some odd trillion bucks in contingent liabilities you socialists have jacked up and be free of us “net takers”. So be it! Works for me!

Social Security and Medicare are used by people that are not retired, and many have moved to the south. They paid in the past (To support their Elders) but are not the Elders. That is a good reason there are transfers to Southern States.

Texas cannot secede by it’s constitution, but can be broken into 5 states. Gov. Perry was just joking around.

And the number of Bolsheviks here, to include the author, who seems to be in gender denial, is much, much higher.

What a garbage article full of lies. But I did take away a term I really - “cold civil war” that describes the situation well.

If everyone supported Federalism, we wouldn't be having none of the problems we're having today.

I don't give a rip if CA or MA or IL wants to promote homosexual agenda in schools, or have abortion on demand - because there will be other states to restrict or abolish this - and I'll be free to move to these states.

The reality is that almost all states of the New Confederacy — the old South, plus parts of the Great Plains and intermountain West — are net takers. In other words, they receive more federal money than they pay in taxes. For example, Arizona, whose entire Republican delegation voted against the compromise to reopen the federal government, received $1.60 for every dollar paid. In South Carolina, the cradle of secession, the ratio is $2.13 to $1.

This argument presented by the anti secessionist doesn't make sense. FedGov™ forces states to comply with a Federal program that most of the citizen DO NOT LIKE OR WANT. This argument supports the need for states to regain their sovereignty, not the other way around.

If all the red state people separated from the blue state people, the blue country would find themselves with about half the population dependent on government. In other words, all the takers would be in the blue states. A very large percentage of crime is also committed by blue staters. So when these smug leftist scribblers write these exceptionally stupid columns, I can only laugh at their ignorance. Just wait when after a year or so all the blue state takers demand the few blue state producers fork over most of their income.
