Virginia would love to get NoVa to secede, at which point the rest of the state (even if it still includes Tidewater and Richmond) would be red.
McAuliffe can be governor of NoVa, Cuccinelli of the rest.

Get out of the LA, SF and Sacto metro areas and much of California is a sea of pissed off, abused, normal folks. Even within those areas there are a lot of us. We're just outnumbered.

If Chicago suffered like Detroit, the Liberals will hide it, obfuscate it and channel money to it all the while denying there is a problem.

If Republicans really want to screw with the electoral map, some argue they could break up Texas into five states according to the states terms of annexation. Right...then we'd be fighting over who gets the Alamo.
Democrats, meanwhile, can dream that Texas makes good on Governor Rick Perrys threat to secede from the union altogether.
Perry never threatened to secede. He side-stepped that issue big time.

You’re on the list and thanks for signing up! I expect the list to get more active over time.
(I like your tagline by the way)

“Perry never threatened to secede. He side-stepped that issue big time.”
Other Texas politicians seem to be doing their best to do the same. I’m glad of it, but I don’t think they’ll be able to keep it up in the long term.

Didn’t we already try this 150 or so years ago?

This is what Detroit did for years. They kept sucking money from the rest of the state.

Thanks! Believe it or not, I got this tagline from Davy Jones of the Monkees, who used to say it during his concerts! LOL

Don’t be so sure. Remember the Buffet Rule? Proclaim by towncrier Barry O to be asking the “rich” to just pay a little more.
Well raising the income tax wouldn’t have touched Buffet at all. He only takes 100,000 in taxable income, and around 75,000 of director fees from various companies. Less than the cutoffs mentioned of 200,000 or 250,000.
Same for other rich guys. It’s the middle class and the small business owner who pay income taxes. The big rich guys don’t. If they wanted to be serious about making the rich pay more, they would institute a net wealth tax.
That doesn’t ever get even mentioned by the pols and the rich would cut them off if it was pursued.

Yup. Didn’t turn out very well. At least for the states that seceded from the union.

It's a very controversial issue. I would hate to see the part of secession that would follow when all the mouth-breathers started demanding the same, if not more, in freebies.
There is a lot to be said about freedom from the fedgov and it's greed, but that would also translate to state level and would be worse due to the smaller population of producers to draw from.
