You cannot sit this one out. Get to another ER. If that is not an option, get back to the first one.

Won’t bore you with the details, but I have a “bit” of experience in this.

GO NOW.

I don’t know about the laws in your state, but in mine (MS) you can force them to care for you by refusing to leave because your “are not satisfied with the level of care/are not free of pain.”

Listen, do whatever you need to get there. Call an ambulance; just get back to a hospital. Explain the feelings (lack of) that you are having and insist on another doctor’s counsel.

My prayers are with you.

Unless you broke something this is likely temporary.

Keep us advised on how this progresses.

Best of luck to you!

Oh dear, saying a prayer now for you. Maybe you are just inflamed or something. Aspirin, hot tea with lemon & whiskey, that is what I prescribe. And/or chicken soup.

Will check back for updates, I hope in the AM you’ll be doing much better.

Chin up. A few years ago, I had an attack of excruciating pain....and went to an ER nearest my home.

Ended up at three different ERs that night ....kept walking out b/c I didn’t like the way I was being *treated.*

I understand your frustration and will keep you in thoughts and prayers. God bless.

Sorry to hear your troubles.

If you are not allergic, and don’t have contraindications, I suggest taking some anti-inflammatories, such as Aleve or Advil, if you don’t have it handy, then aspirin, and see how you feel in the morning. You may have soft tissue swelling that causes you not being able to stand. If you are still in bad shape tomorrow morning, maybe you can go to a different hospital in the area.

Best of luck.

I presume they did a CT scan of your back — did they do X-rays of your legs to make sure you didn’t break anything?

Take a look and see if there is any swelling.

” I don’t understand...why would he not check my reflexes, my pulse, ANYTHING?”

This is really horrible. I hope you’ll be OK, but I suggest you call the ambulance tomorrow morning, if you aren’t better and have them take you to a different hospital.

Best wishes.

I looked at your FR home page — it’s lovely. I hope you’ll get better to get back to your dancing.

Have you ever stubbed your finger ?

Your finger swells up and you can’t move it.

Then the swelling goes down, and all is well.

Most likely, you “stubbed your back” and there is swelling around a back joint which is pinching a nerve.

Hopefully, the swelling will go down and every thing will be ok.

Oh when you stub your finger, it is best not to move it.

Ditto for your back which will be more challenging not to mover for a few days.

“Listen, do whatever you need to get there. Call an ambulance; just get back to a hospital.”

trussell, I think I have to agree with SouthernClaire. If you can’t move or feel your legs you need urgent medical care.

I have been following your prayer requests on your list and remember you talking about your back surgery. I think you need to go to another ER. You said you can only go to an ER once a day... it’s after midnight, so it is another day.

My mother was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago. She went to be with the Lord last week. (I am in deep sorrow over her loss.)

Mom’s original diagnosis at the ER was that it was a yeast infection. Not all ERs are competent. Do not trust the first one you go to, especially if they send you home unable to walk.

May the Lord help you get the care you need. Or heal you outright! (We ask for this, Lord.)

No to the aspirin. There may be some swelling in the back joint and some bleeding too. Aspirin will make the bleeding worse.

Prayers for you, trussell. I’d recommend seeing a chiropractor. Works wonders for me.

Correction: Go to a chiropractor, but when he tells you to come back weekly, ignore that part. One visit should do the job.

That could be bad advice. I need to go to the chiropractor every other week, Once is enough IF everything stays in place but that isn't always the case.

I wish I had some advice. I’ve had to deal with ER docs who were obviously just there for the paycheck. Sometimes if you can be enough of a pain in the ___ they’ll do more just to get you off their backs. Or there might be a better one on the next shift. Sometimes the nurses can help, too. I was choking to death in the ER once because my throat had swollen shut, and after the doctor screamed at me and left in a huff because I wasn’t saying my name loudly enough (I was CHOKING), one of the nurses gave me something that reduced the swelling enough I could breathe. I still want to punch that doctor.

Same thing happened to me on Monday.

Haven’t been able to drive all week.

They did blood, ecg, ekg, cat scan and declared me healthy.

I started a new blood pressure pill that had dropped my BP to 89/56.

Since nothing else was wrong they recommended I stop the med for 1 week and return to the old med after that.
