The movie “The Butler” saw its weekend box office receipts plummet by nearly a third, from $24.6 million in its opening week to $17 million last week, after a storm of protest from Republican and veterans groups.

The film depicts a White House butler who served eight presidents, and has come under fire for its portrayal of former President Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy as being racially insensitive and for casting Jane Fonda as the first lady.

Supporters of President Reagan and veterans groups especially have criticized the film, with some calling for boycotts. …

Just another hollyweird homo approving leftist commie movie made by a bunch of homo loving, coming approving, socialist believing pigs. I refuse to go to movies any more. If it does not star John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, etc., I ain’t going!!!

Hollywood has their simplistic, negative, political stereotypes and will always default to them.

I’d see it only if Victoria Jackson was cast as Eleanor Roosevelt.

(Hey, it’s as absurd as Hanoi Jane as Nancy Reagan!)

You know, all of the people who have served in the White House who have written books about their experiences have been unanimous in their depiction of the Reagans, the Fords, the Bushs as being the nicest people. The Carters, the Clintons and the Obamas have all been called elitist.

Go figure.

Too bad, so sad.

But she will still probably get an Oscar for it.

Too bad. Could have been an excellent depiction of history. Instead, it’s another hate whitey exercise. Pass.

Storm of protests from Republicans and Veterans?

When did that happen? I must have blinked and missed it.

The Movie has made a big profit. If there are enough sycophant Blacks and guilty Whites to elect Obama TWICE, there are enough to make this Blame Whitey Film a winner.

Anyone thinking that this Film is a bomb is delusional. Wishful thinking does not a failure make.

Newsmax should be ashamed of itself...a 30% drop at the box office in a movie’s second weekend actually isn’t that bad.

Boycott this movie! Reagan is probably turning over in his grave to think that traitor Jane Fonda is playing the role of Nancy.

I’m not a fan of biased reporting no matter who does it.
The Butler was number one on the week. The ‘plummet’ of 30% on it’s second weekend is actually quite a good hold.
Last heres a link.
http://boxofficemojo.com/daily/
The Butler has been number one at box office 9 of the past 10 days.
Someone will construe this as me supporting the movie or endorsing it but what i am doing is condemning poor journalism.
Again. No matter who is responsible for bad reporting, in this case leading slanted reporting, should be called out for it.

My issue is that this movie is supposed to be based on the story of an actual Butler at the White House.

It is a fictionalization of a Butler in the White House. Most of the action scenes never happened, and were wholly made up with little reflection on reality. This will confuse audiences. Nothing in the movie actually happened except that there was a Butler in the White house who served for 34 years. Just like the movie Titanic, where nothing was real except that the ship sunk.
