August 5, 2013: Something big is about to happen on the sun. According to measurements from NASA-supported observatories, the sun's vast magnetic field is about to flip.
"It looks like we're no more than 3 to 4 months away from a complete field reversal," says solar physicist Todd Hoeksema of Stanford University. "This change will have ripple effects throughout the solar system."

Does this mean the Sun is having a sex change?
Oh, man. Everyone trying to navigate on the sun is going to have to turn his compass around. Like it isn’t hard enough already - it’s so hot that you can only go there at night. Sheesh.
Speaking of *night*....the Persieds are coming the 12th of August....get out and stay out!
BNNNNNNKKKK ... Thanks for playing.
The sun’s magnetic poles flip every 11 years. It is responsible for the sun spot cycle. At “solar maximum” there are more sun spots because magnetic field lines become increasingly chaotic as the flip approaches. Sun spots occur where field lines intersect and reconnect.
And anyone that thinks the sun does not effect the weather on earth, is a moron. The suns influence expands far past pluto..
Earth’s Magnetic Field Made Quick Flip-Flop
Lost in migration: Earth’s magnetic field overdue a flip
I would have to believe that if Sonny were still alive he would intentionally run into a tree after seeing what Cher and her friends did to his daughter.
But there’s a consensus. Obviously you are a hater of both climate and puppies. It’s science! Not correct science but still...
I recognize that place, that’s Dallas.
See? Proof of global warming, white racism, and the horror of burning coal to provide electricity to commoners.
Sheesh, it was an improvement.
I heard it went all the way to Uranus.
Welcome King Barack "Canute" Obama the Great.....
...Obama issues an Executive Order to the Sun...
....to increase it's magnetic field....
and make a good crop of sunspots before elections in 2016....
(PhysOrg.com) -- Sunspot formation is triggered by a magnetic field, which scientists say is steadily declining. They predict that by 2016 there may be no remaining sunspots, and the sun may stay spotless for several decades.
The last time the sunspots disappeared altogether was in the 17th and 18th century, and coincided with a lengthy cool period on the planet known as the Little Ice Age....and lasted 400 years.
Good luck surviving with no electricity and GE modified seeds.
