Posted on 07/19/2013 12:23:32 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet
What if George Zimmerman had approached his neighborhood watch mission carrying Christs parable of the Good Samaritan in his heart?
Did Zimmermans concept of who is my neighbor? correspond to Christs?
What if foremost in Zimmermans mind had been Christs message of blessed are the meek, the peacemakers, the merciful?
What if he had had the courage and wisdom to remember the Bibles many admonitions to fear not and cheerfully engage Trayvon in conversation, giving the young man a chance to show his attitude without being put on the defensive?
While the jurys outcome may be in line with current legal constraints, moral justice has certainly not been served, and we are all now less secure in our personal liberties. Zimmermans brand of vigilantism befriends a police state, rather than civilized rule of law.
My heart aches for the family and friends of Trayvon, and trembles that so many of my countrymen want their versions of Christianity in our laws and schools, yet have no concern about Zimmermans handling of this incident in such an un-Christian manner, and the law that has rewarded him for that.

Then said He unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. ~Luke 22:36
Here endeth the lesson.
In that case, I guess Zimmerman would shoot laser beams from his eyes. B-P Seriously, this is getting rediculous.
When Christ comes again, His rule will be “with a rod of iron” (Psalm 2:9; Revelation 2:27 among others). Talk about no understanding, never mind no faith.
You mean ‘What if Zimmerman acted more like Reginald Denny?’
If Martin had acted just a little like Christ, he would be alive now.
You mean when Jesus beat the hoo-hoo out of the bankers with a scourge?
The bankers were “unarmed”.
Nail on the head post.
Or as Robin Williams put it, “When Jesus comes back, he’s not going to look like Ted Nugent, uh uh, he’s coming back as Charles Bronson, and he’s going to be gd’d po’d.”
“Do not for a moment suppose that I have come to abrogate the Law or the Prophets: I have not come to abrogate them but to give them their completion.” ~Matthew 5:17
While we’re being more “Christ-like” Laura, how about cutting George a break as well? Like going after the BPs who put a bounty on GZs head? Or let him have a fair trial without the media slanting everything? Or go ahead and release the bad stuff in St. Skittles background so that we can form a more informed opinion?
Laura, you come up with something like that, you’d better make sure that yuor moral plate is spotless.
What if Trayvon had been more like Christ and less like a street thug?
Hard to do when the first thing Trayvon does is cold cock you in the nose then jump on top of you to "ground and pound" you. The blood pouring down the back of your throat tends to inhibit clear speech. Laura, you're a moron!
This crap is getting ridiculous. Recently it was Travon Martin = Dred Scott. Now it’s WWZD?
Wait for my next thread .... it’s a DOOZY!
Maybe he would mentor black children for free?
Maybe he would protest the police's lack of interest in prosecuting a guy that beat a homeless black man?
Maybe he would look in on neighbors who had been terrorized by home invaders?
Maybe he would volunteer to spend time watching out for his neighbors?
Actually, it doesn't end there.
Jesus stopped the fighting and healed the injured.
Read on a little further to Luke 22:49-51
When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?
And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.
And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.
