Yes, flying can get more uncivilized.
A United Airlines flight departing SFO earlier this week, bound for London, reportedly forgot to pack an important item for the non-stop 10-hour trip across the ocean: toilet paper.
So along with a safety demonstration, the airline crew had to instruct passengers to dig around their bags and purses for some alternative wiping machinery -- a napkin, a tissue ...
The crew was kind enough to offer cocktail napkins as an alternative.
-snip-
Now might be a good time to remind travelers that United Airlines was recently ranked the worst airline in the country.

This most likely wasn’t a problem with the muslim passengers.

The job is not done until the paperwork is complete.

Moslem passengers suprisingly unaffected.

Nice of them to offer cocktail napkins. Next step will be to offer little packs of TP in vending machines like they do in railroad station toilets in Japan.

And you trust the pilots to perform all the required checks on the flyability of the aircraft?

ANYONE going to a Third World country, like London, better be carrying toilet paper. Obviously, it’s not a bad idea to carry it on, if you’re flying on a union-run airline.

United has been slipping in customer service, IMHO. This is just an incident... could happen to any airline... but it happened to United.

Now might be a good time to remind travelers that United Airlines was recently ranked the worst airline in the country. I find it curious (disturbing?) that UA headquarters is in Chicago.

There was an article a while back that said the airlines have decided that there’s simply no return on investment on good customer service, particularly in coach. People book the cheapest tickets they can find, and while they’ll complain about bad service, they won’t reward good service by being loyal or by paying more.

Some things are easy to forget. John Denver forgot to fill the tank of his aircraft.
