Harry Reid introduces emergency legislation in response to Patriot Day bombing.

Harry Reid today introduced legislation that would put new restrictions on purchase and ownership of pressure cookers. The legislation would require background checks and a 10 day waiting period for all purchases of these devices, including purchases of used pressure cookers at garage sales and pressure cooker fairs. Anyone whose name appears on the newly created register of the mentally ill would be ineligible to purchase the devices. The legislation also restricts the capacity of pressure cookers to be offered for sale. "Nobody needs a pressure cooker that is larger than 1.5 gallons," Sen. Reid said in a statement released to the press.

Also buried within the 1386 page Pressure Cooker Safety And Control Bill, their are related provisions:

Only contractors, registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, Explosives, and Hardware will be able to purchase carton-sized quantities of nuts, bolts, screws and nails. Case-purchases will need to be approved on a case-by-case (pun intended) basis.

DIY homeowners will need to apply for a permit to purchase small quantities, and submit detailed plans for their use; and will have a 3-day waiting period, before being allowed to take possession.

All such items will no longer be allowed on open shelves, but must be either kept in locked cabinets, or behind the counter.

They`ll get my pressure cooker when they pry it from my cold, sealed mason jars!

Oh man, I have 3 pressure cookers. I wonder if that would be considered an arsenal?

Then he got in his private jet and flew down to the Caymans to visit his money.

That's funny!

There's clearly a correlation between assault weapons and pressure canners:

This isn’t a plausible parody, I’m sorry. Because banning pressure cookers would at least be targeted at the weapon used in the blast, plus you didn’t give him time to do polling to see what he should do.

A good parody would have him noting that the real problem was the backpack, since it obscured the view of the pressure cooker. Therefore, Reid would introduce a bill that limited the size of backpacks, so that they would not be big enough to hold a pressure cooker.

You’d also need a permit to own a backpack, and all backpacks would be registered so if one was used in a crime, it could be traced back to the owner.

There would also be a waiting period and background checks. Can’t let crazy people own backpacks.

I doubt Reid would call them pressure cookers, instead of giving them some more intimidating sounding name, kind of like the “assault weapons” of cooking implements.

Barometric bombs?

Baro-ssault weapons?

???

You must be some kind of “right-wing pressure cooker fanatic” to have 6 of them. I bet you also have a bunch of pressure cooker manuals in your kitchen bunker, where you pressure cook things like beef stew with ball bearings.

Are those gas-operated, fully automatic pressure cookers?

I know, maybe Harry Reid could introduce a bill to repeal the gas laws! Doing them all at once would be far fairer and more comprehensive than repealing Boyle’s law, Charles’s law, and Avogadro’s law.

The Democrats will want to keep Gay-Lussac’s law, however, just officially rename it LGBT’s law.

Is it true, Bones? Did you really smuggle those pressure cookers in across the Nuetral Zone?

I hear there will be a new Reality Series on the History Channel, “Sons of Pressure Cookers”.

In related news, the show “American Pressure Cookers”, about a Family in Colorado that’s owns a Pressure Cooker Store, was not renewed.

The good news is, the sexy Daughter on the Show, now 18 years old, can legally Open Carry her Pressure Cooker.

Thank goodness the Terrorists didn’t use a Deep Fryer instead of a Pressure Cooker.

If the Government tried to ban those it would be CW2, and Obama ain’t no Lincoln.
