Yep...blame the victim, just like Kinsey would want.

She's no more a "victim" than a drunk driver that wraps their car around a tree: except you can't prosecute a tree to mitigate your lack of judgement.

How close are we to crossing that line where the victim just needs ‘four witnesses against her to accuse her of lewdness’.

This is reprehensible, but I don’t see what your point in posting it is. Is it not the duty of defense council to make the best case it can for the defendents? As far as I can tell, they are the only ones blaming the victim.

This is a little off topic, but from an article posted a couple of items below this one;

“The faces of U.S. soldiers in combat are beginning to change, but women aren’t just newly permitted on the front lines of the battlefield. “

Why if women are being raped, need special protection, as in the violence against women act, and why do service members have to attend several hour long indoctrination on how to treat women, i.e., sexual harrassment classes, why if it is wrong to hit a woman (and I generally believe this), why is it appropriate to have them in combat?

Perhaps the O admin hopes to run all terrorists into federal court on violence against women charges?

As someone mentioned at the start of this, Steubenville is a disaster area, and the only thing they have any pride left in is this winning football team. The girl amounts to little more than a human sacrifice, which they are willing to give as she is not a local.

The town has lost its humanity. It has lost its soul.

Am I surprised that a teenager got passed out drunk and raped? Unfortunately no and unfortunately it’s not a recent phenomenon. Not that ever was ‘right’ or ‘good’ or anything of the sort. Am I surprised that there is not a father on trial for beating the rapist to death? Again, unfortunately no. That however “IS” a recent phenomenon. Then again, 30 years ago one would be hard pressed to find a jury that would convict him or a cop to arrest him to begin with.

There are MANY things we need to regress on. This ‘enlightened’ society we live in is anything but.

While the defense is making the case it has to make, I wouldn’t be surprised if the rapists and their parents are actually buying into it. That would be even more shameful. Do none of these jerks have sisters, or the least bit of empathy? There is something very, very wrong.

I hate KOS, but for some reason they seem to have sources (guess inside the crime) that extends past the news.

If this is true it is alarming and further sickening:

“At the end of the night she was deposited on the front steps of her parents’ home.”

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/01/03/1176096/-The-Steubenville-Gang-Rape-A-Timeline

I apologize for the source?

The good news (and the bad news) is that this is only the position of the defense, and not a decided case.

I seriously doubt a jury will believe it, and if they do, either something is seriosly wrong with the information we're reading, or the jurors are nuts.

nearly passed-out-drunk

I don't think that defense attorney has much to work with here. One who is nearly passed out usually doesn't have the ability to consent.

Unless they get off OJ/Robert Blake style for being football players, these two perps should start lifting weights for where they are about to go.

First off...I've lived in Cleveland for 35 years, and there's no such thing as the "Cleveland Trader", far as I know...I think the article meant to reference the "Cleveland Plain Dealer".

Secondly...I don't know what playing football has to do with anything, except I suppose a good football team might be more vulnerable to attacks that they were given special privileges and egregious behavior was overlooked or covered up.

Lastly...if you read the article, the victim does not remember what actually happened, and she went with the young men of her own free will. So, what is the difference between "party boys" and "party girls", in all fairness???

It seems clear the girl was a victim, but of what??? Are the boys also not victims? It's not clear what really happened here, other than general bad behavior on all sides, and stupid "social media" posts.

IMHO, all these "kids" acted incredibly stupidly, and the question is, why didn't any of them know better???

My other question is, why do we assume it's the fault of the stupid boys rather than the stupid girl? Her friends told her not to go...she went anyway, not by any force, and the stupid boys could be facing prison time now.

Here's an idea: let's try to educate our children!!!

I have too much respect for myself to be 2nd. 3rd. or any other figure in a rape.
When you stand in line to have sex with any woman, drunk, blind or crazy you aren’t much of a man. You have committed yourself to the act of an animal. From a health perspective it is wrong to mix your bodily fluids with so many others not to mention hygiene.

It is probably safe to say that the boys were drunk also.
Is their guilt any worse than hers for being drunk or is it the same.If we use drunkenness for her excuse , is it not theirs also?

Then I would need to look at this girls background.
Was she a Virgin before this rape? A Honor student with a clean reputation? Or was she known in school as the class slut? How many times before has she gone with the boys and gotten drunk? Never?

This story is wrong, the boys were wrong and and Rape is always wrong, multiple rape even more so, but before we decide their fate a fair trial with all the evidence is needed.

The countries morals are going downhill fast, and what is happening when a group of boys with no pride in themselves want to wallow in a trough ,and degrade themselves by fornicating in a group, when none of them can get laid on their own with a willing participant. As if there arent enough of those around these days.

What a pathetic group of young men.

[’She didn’t affirmatively say no’]

Questions they asked:

“After you are unconcious, do you mind if we drag your body around to our parties and use it like a sex doll?

unable to answer)

“Do you mind if videotape it so we can relive the fun we had?

(unable to answer)

Do you mind if we pee on you too?

(unable to answer)

“Do you mind, after we are done with your body, we just throw your body on your parents lawn”

(unable to answer)

“OK guys, she didn’t say no, let the party begin”

Lol

Wow what a contentious thread....i did not know about this case till today and am uninformed

When i grew up in the early 70s i saw girls intoxicated or on quaaludes or even fairly sober indulge in gang bangs or group sex....it was hardly rape...they actually carried on like it was profoundly pleasurable to them....i was not into that being so close to other bare johnsons

I have known girls/women in my life who liked all sorts of exploitative stuff like trains and group or S and M or rough play and so forth

Some pretty startling and frankly unexpected

Before the knitters here go ape i am describing observations...i have enjoyed many gals but always treated even the full blown freaks with affection respect and whatever effort required to please to whatever their satisfaction level was

I’m no prude..pillow biters are boring but abusing women even if requested was not my thing

Now i have also known women assaulted by someone familiar...a bad thing

And women brutalized with fear of being killed by a home invader.... heinous vicious crap....that is very very bad

I do think today we call rape a bit too readily.....fembots seem to like it both ways

In this case....i simply don’t know the facts

Being high and having sex you are ashamed of the next morning and being forcibly held down and penetrated or worse are very different things

And there are degrees of that....which is why we have aggravated charges

I will say this sort of thing frequently involves jocks and alcohol

My boys know i will light them up i catch them doing this crap...invited or not

Caligula Barge behavior is bad form....
