A French woman's loyal German Shepherd dog saved her from committing suicide by knocking aside a rifle she tried to fire into her heart, local police said.
The 63-year-old woman had walked into her garden in the southern town of Sorgues in the Vaucluse region, fired several test shots of a 22-calibre rifle and then turned the gun on her chest.
"At the moment she pulled the trigger, her dog jumped on her and diverted the shot," a local police officer told AFP, adding that the dog "probably sensed things and knocked into her to save her."

God alone chooses the time we die. Yes, that means He allows suicides to happen but who knows how many times He intervenes - maybe not as dramatically as this but sometimes with a phone ringing or a pang on conscience or the gun jamming, etc.
God has sent me many hairy angels in my lifetime.
I am grateful.
I’m not sure I could count on any of my cats to come through like that... but who knows.
Or it was past feeding time and it was trying to express its hunger.
Shepherds are very intelligent dogs. I have little doubt the dog knew exactly what he was trying to prevent.
Me too. German Shepherds can think like humans.
Bless your heart.
Not only does mine think like a human, he thinks he is human. Just ask him.
Prolly just a bad shot.
This is a low-volume list so dont worry!
(Please Freep-mail me if youd like to be on or off the list.)
Me too!! I really miss them too.
I read about it this afternoon! Wonderful story.
My son finally found his battle buddy a couple of months ago. Named him “McClane” and it is amazing how much this shepherd loves him. Under a year (he was a stray-emaciated—any ideas on how to fatten him up?) and clean bill of health except for being so slim. HUGE feet, good hips.
Run full internal parasite/tick/thyroid panels on him and if he’s clean, start throwing -good- food into him.
I recommend EVO grain free [beef] and if that’s too steep, try Taste Of The Wild.
They have several varieties and my dogs prefer High Prairie.
It’s available at all Tractor Supply stores.
he’s bug free, and looks a little better. We just got him on a good food, and my dogs loved Taste of The Wild, too. We’ll have to look for it where we are now.
It could be a simple give-him-time thing.
Long periods of malnutrition affect their ability to properly absorb nutrients so it might take a while.
While you’re looking for the TOTW, try to find him some good pro-biotics to mix with his food.
Tractor Supply sells a very good powder called “Pro-Bios”.
Bless you for helping the boy.
When I was 10, my pedo uncle started in on me and my folks did nothing.
When I was 14, God sent me my first angel, a stray Dobermann.
The uncle stopped.
Ever since then, He’s sent me hairy angels every time I needed one.
Some literally saved my life.
Others saved my sanity when the residual ‘issues’ from the uncle became unbearable.
They all kept me going, one way or the other.
God is good and so is Dog.
I am a firm believer it is no coincidence that God is Dog spelled backwards.
