Prediction: Notre Dame wins BCS title, and it'll echo through ages

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The images will be vivid, history will be haunting, ghosts will be everywhere.

This is Knute Rockne versus Bear Bryant, Touchdown Jesus versus Dreamland Bar-B-Que, Four Horsemen versus Lynyrd Skynyrd, Joe Montana versus Joe Namath, and, of course, in the battle of the little guys, Rudy versus Nick.

It will be a football game bathed in a complicated mess of legend, religion and roughhousing, but most folks think Monday's BCS national championship heavyweight fight between Alabama and Notre Dame can be symbolized by a single disparity.

Notre Dame had the weaker schedule and barely squeaked through unbeaten.

Alabama had a tougher schedule and has experience in this game. Alabama’s defense will stymie Notre Dame’s offense all night.

I don’t think an appearance by Ronald Reagan on the Notre Dame sidelines would help them tonight.

Alabama: 42 Notre Dame: 10

“I will root and pull for Our Lady, but we are so going to get our head stomped.”

I wonder if Our Lady will be rooting for ND. They haven’t been treating her very well of late. I think they must make Her very sad.

“OVER-RATED. Alabama by 17 or more tonight vs. Field Goal Jesus. Can’t wait for Kelly’s head to explode on national TV.”

Hussein hasn’t made an opportunistic “teachable moment” prediction against God because the cowardly Fraud already has Notre Dame in his pocket.

I have a very smart husband and a genius son, both avid sports fans. Both could give you a play by play of games that happened 25 years ago. Seems like an awful waste of brain space to me.

I just don’t get the whole fascination thing with sports. never did. what do you have after the game is done? Nothing. Its not like ‘YOU’ won the game or anything and its not like days gone past where players spend their whole careers with one team and over time they kind of become one of the family.

now days its here today gone tomorrow.

that and all the shuckin and jive’n going on with the thug culture.

Screw it all. I don’t need or care about it.

Its all a big waste of time.

Greatest ever was Texas Longhorns vs USC Trojans in the 2006 Rose Bowl.

No, the greatest college game ever was the 1949 Raisin Bowl between the Occidental College Tigers and the Colorado A & M (now Colorado State) Aggies. The Tigers won 21-20 in the final moments of the game to conclude their 1948 season with a 9-0 record.

Ah, no, I’m just saying that with all that is happening and will be happening, sports seems rather meaningless under the circumstances. Personally, I hope for a ND victory.

Game over. Bam-Bam wins big. Notre Dame played an easy season. The SEC is difficult. I never thought the Irish had a chance.

Just watched a replay of that game the other day. The amount of talent on both sides of the ball with both teams was unbelievable.

Yeah, but both QBs were flops in the NFL.

Like the Gators beating the Buckeyes in the football and basketball championships in the same year? :)

I guess that begs the question now, what does that make Louisville?
