And the state-run media almost glamorizes these events with the constant coverage and what they focus on.
They do so for ratings.
And they do so because they are statists at heart and they know that focusing on the issue will help push part of their political agenda.
But notice how quiet they were about Fast and Furious and the gun-running scheme to arm Al Qaeda (better known as Benghazi). You see, THOSE stories of people killed by guns do not further their cause and do not shine a pretty light on Obammie and his Commies, their beloved Statists.
If Obama is going to take credit for killing Bin Laden, then he almost must take the blame for that single drone attack in Pakistan that killed 69 children.
I don’t remember him shedding crocodile tears over those children and talking about the need of getting rid of drones, which the statists are now using in our skies.
Yes, I wouldn’t snap to judgement about any of those pics.
But, come on, if you saw one of those faces staring at you from across the bar, don’t tell me it wouldn’t make the hair on the back of your neck stand up.
I understand your frustration and I’m sure many on this thread appreciate your view point.
But did you really need to go the “just shut up” route?

I am so sick and tired of reading the blame of mass killers on prescription drugs. It has the same lack of logic as the gun banners.
Questions:
1. How do you know that the use of prescription drugs does not keep us safe from thousands of similar mentally ill ?
2. How do you know that (assuming a drug was used by the perpetrator)the drug caused the action and that the drug had its desired affect?
3. How do you know the drug was used as prescribed? Did the person skip doses, did he combine it with other drugs?
4. Do you believe that any medicines are effective? If so, why are you against psychotropic drugs?
5. Do you realize that other foods and environmental triggers are capable of affecting our hormones and resulting psychology? Do we ban everything that does the same?
6. Many mentally ill seek self medication which leads them to alcohol abuse, drug abuse, adrenalin seeking behaviors, etc. Do we let the mentally seek such destructive behavior or do we try to regulate it with the use of science, measure and consult?
I assume you and the gun grabbers have the same motive that is based on denial that bad things happen to good people. We do not have control over many of these events. No laws will protect us. No gun laws, no drug bans etc will protect.
Only love will endure. Only love will bear all things.

We need media that stops reporting on these stories.
Beyond the basic information, after the first day, they are simply flogging the story for ratings.
The news media is truly disgusting in this regard.
I’ve stopped watching news since it happened, other than a quick flip on and off of maybe fox business news or real quick flips at the “others” (maybe 5-10 seconds).
Even business news on TV is getting disconnected from reality, they ignore the insanity of trillion dollar welfare spending. They push every stupid crazy idea out there except eliminating whole government agencies, the only way to possibly get government put back in it’s cage.
The more we keep flogging the sad news mass murder stories, the more we are setting up the next mass murderer to act.
Right now - the news media is helping to motivate the next mass murderer, by making this guy infamous.
He should be regarded as the deranged anomalie that he is and ignored by everyone.
And the victims families being shown in big sad stories over and over is intrusive to them and worst of all, as I said, sets up the big drama queen idea for the next mass murderer sitting in his basement right now.
It’s a tragedy, but everyone - including our schools - turning to God is what will help more than anything.
On the practical side, why not have training for some specially selected school staff members for these situations ? Training could be put on by those with military training and could have realistic practice sessions. The military channel frequently runs shows soldiers being trained in “clearing a building” - why not have folks with such training working at a school as a teacher ? What a great career for veterans - teaching !

What I resent is that the media seems to feel the need to “humanize” the victims and even the perpetrators with stories of their personal lives, what they would have been doing if this had not happened, what they wanted to be when they grew up, etc.
It’s enough to know what happened and how it happened. The coverage goes so far as to suggest that people looking in from the outside need to feel every bit of pain because otherwise, we’d be oblivious to the meaning of it and the gravity of the situation.
Wasn’t it the ever-destructive, termitic LIBs who closed most of the mental hospitals so as not to impinge on the mentally-ill’s rights? They initially were supposed to be supplanted by “community mental health centers”. Yet another LIB plan that didn’t work out so well, did it? The weird thing is that all LIBs are mentally ill.
The media rush to make the murderers instant heros. Their names and disgusting faces are all over the news, bigger than life on the tabloids, on TV 24/7.
I think that this is a motivating factor for some of these bastards. They think they will “show the world” and “now these people will respect me.”
The media should just report that “a random a$$hole is suspected of being the murderer.” No name, no face.
I have an uncle that is a retired prison guard. I remember him telling me 25 years ago that they (guards) were always extra cautious around inmates whose eyes showed more white than color. Even the other inmates knew that white eyes were more than a little off.
Our society, by it’s action and voice, love killing the innocent and love impish anti-social monkey behavior. The elite just want to be the ones to decide who of the innocent they will slaughter. This young man slaughtered some children. Had Obama - the liberal elite - done it, it is fine. They don’t like competition in the killing.

You are exactly right. They squeeze every tear they can out of the audience and it goes too far.
Our hearts are already torn apart. We don’t need what comes across as the “reality TV” element on top of it.
Lanza was a bright young man. I read yesterday that he started college at 16. It’s a mistake to think that a bright kid is a mature person. Kids have very little patience. A bright young man will be able to see lots of problems with the world. He will become impatient to solve the problems. Lacking maturity and experience, he will become frustrated. Add in the normal teenage male hormones and the energy of youth. He sees problems. Wants to fix those problems. Feels that no one takes him seriously because of his age. Becomes frustrated. Doesn’t have the patience and experience of maturity. Feels that his intellect makes up for maturity and patience and experience. Becomes extremely frustrated and angry. Add in any other issues such as divorced parents, failure with girls, shyness. Mix well with a culture that values loooks, fame and getting high and devalues life, wisdom and maturity.
We don’t refuse to acknowledge, we disagree with the premise.
Perhaps they need to look into the effects of prolonged violent gaming. Since many folks knew Adam ... perhaps if there was some type of an online portal for citizens to report/monitor such folks who ‘game’ for days, without eating, bathing, never leave their house, with no job, over the age of 18 years old, and generally free to walk about. Older generation needs to understand the severity of this and the problem is not gun controls but rather deeply disturbed individuals having access to such technology. These are not ATARI like games. They are real time..blow you and others up on line in real time to bits...blood and guts shed and all. After days of playing these games it seems people have a difficult time discerning virtual vs reality. The only way to reproduce the on line experience is to go out and shoot people in the real world.
