Meet Sonya and her extra-prickly kittens.
Mama cat Sonya adopted four orphaned hedgehog babies when they were rescued after losing their Mama, and cared for them alongside her own kitten. The video was originally recorded in August.
The sound you just heard was your heart breaking into millions of tiny pieces. See video of the "hedgekittens" nursing above and some additional photos below. Prepare to dawww...

Odd to see a female orange tabby. They are usually male. That is what I was thinking.

Years ago we had a female orange tabby who would go to the door and say "Meeeoouut". She lived to be 14. Still miss you Tenderfoot.

We’ve had a female orange tabby for 10 years. When we see a new vet we hear, “Oh, female orange tabbies are very rare!” She’s a sweetie and her name is Ginger.
We have seven indoor cats, with two neutered males. The “alpha” of the two is a major caretaker. He bathes all of them, although some aren’t always receptive. His focus is on etiquette in the litter boxes. He’ll supervise the “business” and check to be sure everything is covered properly.

Orange cats are the best. They seem to have special personalities.

They tend to be big and strong, too...I love that.
What a beautiful cat in the pics/video.....just what I needed this morning.

I needed this today. I wish we humans were more like this wonderful kitteh momma.
In reality, I am an adopted child, and I can tell you it’s a wonderful thing. I am going to send the original story to my mother, and yes, I am going to send her a bouquet of flowers too. She may not have given birth to me but I could not have asked for a better mom.
I hope all my new kitty friends here have a wonderful weekend, and to those mothers on here- thank you.

That was a beautiful counterpoint to a beautiful story. May all the orphaned baby hedgehogs in the world find their kitteh mommas.
