Silver called the 08 election with leaked internal polls from the Obama team. He did nothing special in 10.
Oh Please, in Sept you wanted to proclaim Romney finished based on the same polls you now discount.

Kinda apples&oranges to contrast predictive performance of a judicial outcome vs. an electoral outcome; there’s a lot of more information from many different sources to help prognosticate an election, not so much for anticipating the whims of a USSC.
That being said, I don’t put a lot of faith in Intrade/et al, and I do think a great deal of the movement comprises dumb money.
Nevertheless, I still have to wonder: What information is driving these people’s decisions? Why is Obama up 63.5%…? It can’t -all- be dumb money sifting around. Surely at least some of bettors are privy to what people around here have been confident about for weeks now…

Romney’s doing OK. And listening to his economy speech today, I wouldn’t exactly say that he’s playing it safe. Granted, he’s not doing “vote with your female parts” ads with plump, tattooed college girls, but he is hitting Obama hard with facts. And Obama cannot directly defend against facts.

Because he doesn't need to do anything. He criticized Obama on September 12, and the media launched an attack at him. Now, as events unfolded, the media and the public are coming to the conclusion that there is a cover up about something there. Right now the focus is on Obama, if Romney attacks he could draw the attention away again. It is much better to have Obama floundering, with Romney running a positive message, looking presidential.
