That's one tough mutt.

A bulldog is recovering at home in Oklahoma after a run-in with a porcupine left her with a face full of quills.

Three-year-old Bella Mae was rooting around a backyard pond with two other dogs last week when she spooked the spiky critter, her owners, Jerry and Allison Noles, told local News 9.

The porcupine impaled all three dogs, but Bella took the brunt of the attack.

I'm shaking my head as I question this, what seems to be, a PC commentary.

This story wants to make a person believe that 3 pooches were just roaming around, minding their own business and the mean old porcupine waylaid them all, instead of these 3 hooligans found this porcupine taking a breather from the heat near some water when this pack jumped him. Now the perpetrators are the victims.

Having said that, I do feel sorry for the little guy but I have a feeling he was the instigator ;)

I’ll bet in most situations it’s the dog...that starts the fight....always ending in the dog saying *It seemed like a good idea at the time.*

It’s a wonder it didn’t blind her.

When we lived in Alaska, porcupines killed many dogs every year. The quills in the dogs face continues to migrate deeper, if in the nostrils or eyes, often going right into the brain.

When the porcupine quills go in, one hardly feels them, pain is later when the skin and flesh becomes infected.

I have had quills in my leg over an inch deep and no bother until later that night. Extracting the barbed quills is no fun.

Dogs do not have to start a porky fight, just too inquisitive and the porky will slap them in the face with their tail, nuff said.

Don’t bring fur to a quill fight.

I’ve been lucky with my three dogs. Hope Bella recovers and remembers.

Amazing, huh? I had a pit that got 2 quills in his nose when he found a porky under a log. That meant war. He’d hunt them for sport, grab them and swing them ‘til the patch of skin came off. His mouth, tongue and lips would be as thick with quills as the porky had been. I don’t think he ever had a quill within 2 inches of an eye, though. Bad as that picture is, it’s nothing compared to some attacks.

Don’t know about bulldogs, but pits “remember” for the rest of their lives. And it’s not a good thing.

#3 Dumbest: The Bulldog was rated the third stupidest dog breed.

Bullies ARE NOT DUMB!!!

Bullies are independent, free thinkers, much like Freepers!

Some people say you can't train them. That's not true! I taught a friend's bully to play with a Frisbee, and once he caught it, he was done, he had nothing else to prove.

Reminds me of..... "What's the difference between a BMW/Porsche owner and a porcupine? The Porcupine has the pricks outside."

When you are made of steel, like Paul Ryan, any quills tossed by the Democrats will bounce right off!

I’m sorry my friend. I am watching my son’s bullie after having my doberman die last year. Dumbest SOB I ever saw in a dog. A true slug on 4 legs. Dense is not sufficient.

Any bulldog breed with a heavy dose of Olde English type bully in it is likely to be quite less intelligent than say a Border or Dobie or Alsatian or Rottie or Schnauzer or Poodle

breeds known as bright

I have a female 150 pound Johnson American Bulldog bitch...indeed she is intellectually lazy and stubborn and ferocious to other animals and female dogs but a submissive slut to male dogs...little guard instinct...my wife's baby more or less

Sugar here

I had a Standard American Bulldog who unfortunately was too aggressive and I retired him to hog hunting and breeding but he was as smart as my Rotts (but not as smart as Dobies) had been...and very very guard oriented but kind to fellow animals...I miss hell outta that boy....he and I were in sync...same wavelength
