I always like the Mosin and bacon threads so being a slow Sunday night, I thought I'd combine them. Have at it. Post pics, or just talk. Pictures of attractive young women with either get extra credit. Happy Father's Day!

I hit the gun range with a friend today. My Mosin accompanied us. Said friend had never fired one. After ten rounds he had this huge grin on his face.
“I have got to get me one of these!”
Oh, and I had three strips of applewood smoked bacon with breakfast before we left. LOL

Can bacon be cooked on the barrel of a Mosin Nagant? and if so will the bacon season the barrel?

Using bacon and Mosin in the same sentence is somehow fulfilling:)

Some years ago, I got a '37 Mosin-Nagant at a gun show. Later, I got a star bayonet to go with it. If my home gets invaded and I don't have time to load, I can do a bayonet charge--
Operation Bagration on a smaller scale.

Can bacon be cooked on the barrel of a Mosin Nagant? and if so will the bacon season the barrel? In my professional opinion, on the first question... No. You just don't have to shoot that much if you have one, so the barrel doesn't get that hot.
On the second question? I'm not qualified to speak to it. I'm just a cook. ;)

If my home gets invaded and I don't have time to load, I can do a bayonet charge--I've got an SKS next to the toilet because I keep forgetting to put the blasted thing up in the overhead storage.
If I have to do a fixe bayonette kind of thing... I'm going to stand up and be REALLY grumpy about it.
I do know the command in 6 different languages, though. Apparently, throughout history, it was fairly imprortant.

A mosin and 440 rds will set you back @ $200 nowadays. Worth every penny. I got my C&R for $30 and Mosins are $80 with that and I get dealer pricing on ammo and stuff from Midway and Brownells.

I have two MN. one is a 1937 Tula carbine $25.00 pick up that had been fully bubbarized before I scout scoped and put a cheek piece on it. Is my dedicated truck gun and very accurate with cast boolits.

The other one I really lucked out on, was in a local gun shop I frequent and it had the normal rack of MN for $150.00 each. Not being interested, I just glanced at them, then, blam, saw one had a pistol grip stock and knew what it was. It was a 1942 Finn MN with a Sako barrel and a near perfect bore. I never uttered a peep until it was bought, paid for, and in my hands. I then casually mentioned to the owner that it was a good price for a Finn. He got that aw chit look on his face, then softly said, it was a damn good price, which would not be repeated. I guess it got mixed up with the Russian MN and nobody caught it, their bad and my good luck.

What does he win? I got Rooters in my back yard and I have killed bigger ones than that.
What contest can I enter? Can I win? They are fun and games to Yankees, but they are mortarforkers to Southerners.
They can mess up a wetdream.
You do not want them around, trust me. They can f/mess up your world. And they run the deer off, the bastages....

Well, he only REALLY won kudos from me for posting the best pic of a Mosin and bacon.
I’d throw him a buck, but he’d probably sniff at it contemptuously.
The only thing he’s missing is a composite chick.

Sure looks imposing with the bayonette on it.
But it won’t fit in my gun case with it on.
The Cetme” does though.
Both fire like cannons.
