Battleship Earth: Does the Pentagon have the right weapons to fight off an alien invasion?
Foreign Policy ^ | May 30, 2012 | Cara Parks and Joshua E. Keating

As summer blockbuster season kicks into high gear, big-budget action movies like The Avengers, Battleship, and Prometheus remind us that there's one thing that unites Americans: Our shared fear of an alien attack. They also remind us that when the invading space fleet arrives, humanity is not going to surrender without a fight to our intergalactic invaders. Instead, we will band together to fight off their incredibly advanced weaponry with our ... well, with what, exactly? Are we really ready to battle our would-be alien overlords?

Luckily, the Pentagon's Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, better known as DARPA, as well as some of the world's largest weapons manufacturers, are dreaming up the weapons of the future today. With the help of everything from lasers on jets to hypersonic planes to invisibility cloaks, we just might be able to make the battle for Earth a fair fight. You may think we're joking, but why else would NASA be uploading The Avengers to the International Space Station if not as a training manual? Here's a look at some of the most space-worthy inventions being cooked up now.

Allen Hynek and Jacques Vallee concluded, after years of study, that the aliens purportedly abducting humans (grays, reptilians, etc.) were "extradimensional"...not extraterrestrial.

They are either folding space (the space-time continuum), simply moving between dimensions with technology, or projecting themselves holographically into our dimension without actually entering it.

I suspect aliens have already nosed around Earth, studiedsampled its inhabitants, and said, “no thanks”.

We have a expanding protective sphere 20+ light years out of “Prairie Home Companion” that will convince anyone that if they approach closer the levels of boredom will become lethal.

In his Playboy interview many years ago, this subject was brought up with Stanley Kubrick. He said, “If an alien ant at my feet scrawls out ‘Let’s talk’ in the sand, I’m not going to step on him.”

Yeah, I have actually heard that before. Either way, they were built, rational or not.

This role is delegated to 3rd grade classrooms, where the students have been provided with soda straws and asked to manufacture their own spitwads.
It will be more than sufficient.

We are so full of our selves. Why would an alien want to come to an obscure planet in an obscure galaxy?

When the aliens descend from the clouds and many of their agents among us are called up to meet and join the oncoming army, it is all over. There will be nothing the armies of the world can do but surrender or die fighting.

I welcome Christ's return.

There was a Science Channel documentary on this a few months ago. According to them, the only real hope we’d have of surviving it and defeating the aliens would be to fight them with guerrilla warfare tactics, which is the classical way an inferior force can defeat a superior force.

Out here, far from their resupply lines, they would have a finite number of “men” (robots?) and a finite amount of equipment. If we could somehow continue the struggle for years, their losses would add up and make it too costly for them to continue. So they would give up and leave, go look for easier pickings. So says the Science Channel.

More fantasy scenarios from the unbelievers. Romans 8:19-23 . .

So are you saying Christians should not believe in aliens??? I think God created way more wonderful stuff out there in the universe than you and I.

Think about it, to God you and I are less than a single cell in out bodies..would be kinda boring for him/her/it to watch over us don't you think?

There can be no ‘alien’ that is not subject to God’s will.

Maybe God is an alien...

“If an alien ant at my feet scrawls out ‘Let’s talk’ in the sand, I’m not going to step on him.”

An alien civilization that has mastered interstellar space travel would be so far advanced from us that they might not even be able to recognize our intelligence. We could be incapable of communicating with them no matter how hard we tried. The cities and skyscrapers we've built would be, in their eyes, no more technologically advanced than the tunnels in an ant hill are to ours.

If aliens appeared on earth, the Democrats would give them voter cards and sign ‘em up for welfare.

God would be considered alien. He is definitely different than what we are used to.

Even though I enjoy the alien invasion movies, I have often thought it is likely God's enemy training us to fight his approaching return. Otherwise, why in the world would you point your weapons at Christ's army as it descends on the earth????? That would be insane. But, isn't that what the Bible says will happen?

It won't be war or towed in asteroids...they will just spray the atmosphere with the human form of d-con and we are all dead in 5 minutes or less.

Lebensraum. They need the living space and earth is close enough to their home planet that they could terraform it easily enough. Alter the chemical composition of our atmosphere, change our temperature slightly so that our planet would be hospitable to them (and poisonous to us). Replace our plants with theirs, our animals with theirs. They'd have a happy home and we'd have no chance to survive.
