I agree with Sen. Grassley. I think South Park did a good job of lampooning what the History Channel has become in a recent episode.

Mudcats, Pickers, Pawn Stars, Swamp People, what the hell?

I couldn't agree more with the senator.

There are some occasional good history shows on it but mostly not. Tonight on H2 (usually the better history channel) is Ancient Aliens with Mr Wigged out hair. On the History channel is Top Gear which is a decent show but not even remotely history related.

What he says is true but one can go over to the National Geo. channel and it has lots of good stuff. I admit I love watching the Pawn Stars. It and the Antique Rd. Show on PBS are both informative on prices of antiques and what is real and what is fake. On the other hand, quite often now, Nat. Geo gets off on way too much “Gangs” and “Prisons”.

There’s only so many ways you can portray Hitler and WWII.

History channel is the best. What’s wrong with Swamp People, Ax Men, Pawn Stars, American Pickers? Besides, there’s two of them. They show plenty of history between the two. Sure are better than sitcoms. You, Senator, have more important work to do. Like making history by getting holder to comply.

He should present legislation to require them to carry history programs and nothing but history programs. The nerve of these networks to show what they want

They’ll program what gives them the ratings. Hey, I’ll have to admit I like watching Swamp People, but it does seem to be more of an Outdoor Channel(a favorite ch of mine) type show. I like IRC and Pawn Stars too.

I love the Military channel, but wish I could get it in HD from Comcast here in North Ga. We just started getting the Smithsonian Chan here and in HD. They’ve had some good WWII history shows.

Sen. Chuck Grassley Blasts The History Channel: Where’s The History?

Well, there's always the Learning Chanel...
Wait.
...never mind...

Well, there's always the Science Chanel...
Wait.
...never mind...

Well, there's always the National Geographic Channel...
Wait.
...never mind...

What's wrong with wrestling, cage fighting, dancing with the stars, the great Amazing races, anyway?

You some kind of an elitist dork?

There’s almost nothing left on any channel worth watching now, part of a devolutionary spiral going on for years:

Borderline IQ average programing (80-70) 20 years ago, then Borderlines tuned out and it devolved to a Moron audience (69-50) about 10 years ago, and now it’s hovering within the Imbecile range (49-29). In another few months, just before the end of the Mayan Calendar, I think, Imbeciles will get bored and it will piddle out down into the 20-0 Black Hole IQ of the Idiot, from which there is no return or escape. Along the way, various forms of cretins and pinheads have come and gone, leaving their indelible mark on the medium.

If this insipid medium lasts for a thousand years, men will still say, “This was their finest hour.”
