President Barack Obama has not yet decided whether to go forward with a proposed regulation under the health care law he signed last year that would force Catholic individuals and institutions to act against the teachings of the Catholic church.

In August, Health and Human Service Secretary Kathleen Sebelius proposed a regulation--that would take affect next fall--that would require all health care plans to cover sterilizations and all FDA-approved contraceptives, including abortifacients. The proposed regulation includes a very narrow religious exemption that does not cover individual Catholics, or Catholic universities, hospitals or charitable institutions.

So if your belief is counter to the Government edict, your forced to adhere?

This could be a real weak spot for Barry.

He isn’t undecided at all. He is just undecided whether to impose it BEFORE the election or AFTER. I’ll bet it gets punted to December 2012.

As a Christian, I see the objection, but I also think this is the gov getting out in front of an inevitable islamic takeover.

A.G. of MA, Martha Coakley’s response to FOCA was that Catholics should not be employed in Health Care.

dunno if there is any such thing as muslim hospitals, but they’d be screaming to allah if barack obama (hey, where’s congress in this picture anyhow) said they had to defy sharia.

Interesting how liberals squeal when their ‘conscience’ is imposed upon. OTOH they’re more than willing to trample anyone who doesn’t see it their way. Lets see there’s a word for that....

True....our government is fascist now.....and we have no freedom of speech and thought-—just the “appearance” of it and pockets of it. The media and government have colluded and it is just a matter of time before absolute control by government edict.

So ya think that these liberal indoctrinated so-called Catholics would vote (R) if he were to impose this? Not a chance IMO.

If Catholic actually were Catholic in the north east then the north east would be the most republican religious conservative area of the country but those in the north east only see a D and then vote due to their ignorance and yes I have lived up there and seen it.

... that would require all health care plans to cover sterilizations and all FDA-approved contraceptives, including abortifacients.

The media (of course) keeps understating the extent of this. All insurance is not only required to cover these drugs and procedures, but required to provide them without a deductible or copayment. It privileges anti-birth "medical" treatments above every form of treatment for illness or injury.

Why is this presented as affecting Catholics only? Are there no individuals of other faiths which object to these practices?
