I wonder why no one is critical of Cain's 9-9-9 plan because it is a tax increase on the disabled and retired?
I live on Social Security Disability. My income cannot afford a 9% increase on my food budget.
Maybe he hates old people /sarc
Don’t sweat it. 999 is DOA and will never see the light of day.
WOMEN AND MINORITIES HIT HARDEST!!!
You’ll have to learn to like the cheaper cat food.
yeah, yeah...blather ..blather...exemptions can be made for food and such...give me a break.
Buy used food. No tax.
We don’t pay tax on food in Michigan. At least no sales tax imposed by the state.
This. There is not even the slightest chance 999 becomes law. And if I am wrong and it somehow did pass, there would be so many carve outs and exemptions that you would not pay any more taxes - in fact you probably wouldn't even recognize the plan as 999.
Err... Cain’s plan specifically exempts Social Security. I would suggest reading it instead of reading what people say about it. There is a lot of bad info out there, from saying it taxes SS (it doesn’t) to saying it is a VAT (it isn’t).
Allready paying far more than 9% in hidden taxes on your groceries... at every level of production.
The end result is you will see prices go down, and a little tag that says “price includes 9% fed sales tax”.
It makes the hidden taxes go away, and replaces them with a single lower ONE.
>> yeah, yeah...blather ..blather...exemptions can be made for food and such...give me a break. >>
Not to mention that the taxes paid by the farmers, the truckers, the grocery stores, etc, will ALL BE LOWER therefore reducing the price of everything far more than the 9%.
By the way, you are aware that your food prices already have built in over 30% in hidden taxes? 9% would be a major cut (assuming food is taxed in this plan, it is usually exempt in most sales tax programs).
9-9-9 is also a tax increase on those that want everything for free!
Time for everybody to pay their fair share!
And I do mean EVERYBODY!
Gross versus Net is a difficult concept for some.
Oh well, everyone needs to pay their "fair share".
>> Gross versus Net is a difficult concept for some. >>
Indeed. Another difficult concept is that fact that what we have now is probably the most punitive and expensive (for EVERYBODY) monstrosity that could ever be dreamed up in the 7th ring of Dante’s hell - let alone a supposedly free country.
I am losing patience with the dolts. Give me Perry, Cain, or Newt’s plan over what we have now and whatever the imperfections, we can live with.
