NEW PEKIN, Ind. -- Two people are in critical condition and another in fair condition following a mobile home explosion and fire in southern Indiana.
It happened on Hurst Road near New Pekin, northwest of Louisville.
The damage was evident after the mobile home exploded, ripping it apart on all four sides.
"I just heard a big boom, I didn't know what it was," said neighbor Trevor Trainor.
It was a neighbor who ran to tell him just what was going on.
"He was beating on the door. All he said was, 'Call 911 and get an ambulance to the house,'" said Trainor.
The home sat in smoke and twisted metal, and the windows were completely blown out.
"From the evidence, we can see the glass was thrown about 25 feet away from the home. So it's evident we did have an explosion," said Pierce-Polk Township fire chief Robert Mull.
Mull said it took some 1,500 gallons of water to put the blaze out.

I’ll give this guy a break.
The media probably came rushing in and asked, “Was there an explosion?” (even though it would be obvious to even the most casual observer).
He just gave them an answer that fit their level of questioning.
Personally, I would have dead-panned it and said, “No, there was a centralized low-pressure around the trailer that caused the trailer to burst from the inside, out. No more comments.”
that’s just me, though.
Three alarm chili... and we mean it.
*applause*
Is that a dfwgator original?
1500 gallons of water upon a trailer fire? Surround and drown, fur’shore.
