“For some reason I thought they were from South Africa. Why did I think that? “
Diana’s brother had moved to South Africa and was often outspoken after her death. I think his name was Mark Spenser. I could be wrong on the spelling too.
William
She was proud of her heritage as an Englishwoman. She’s got lineage all the way back to Edward III.
Danish on his fathers side, and German on his mothers, but he’s Greek because he was born there. So that would make William 5/8ths English, 1/4 German and 1/8th Danish.
Say we go back to 1/16ths.
George I of Greece (Danish, Born Copenhagen)

Ok, that’s why that was filed away in my head. Thanks.
Perhaps we need to do a DNA test!
Charles is married to Camilla. She would be queen, but only while he lived. At his death, William becomes king. Camilla would be at best, the royal stepmother (whatever title that would be). The only time a royal spouse becomes monarch is when the reigning monarch dies without blood heirs, or if the spouse is also a king or queen in their own right, in which case they would be the new monarch.
I think you're on to something. In fact, you are right!! And you were first to get it. Full name: William Arthur Philip Louis Mountbatten-Windsor
Hurrah!!
And if a Chinese person were born in Athens and then went to live in London, where he subsquently had children, would they be part Greek? If course not.
Just saying, based on where they were born, he’s 13/16th English going back 4 generations.
The further back you go, the more he’s English, simply because the Queen Mom and Diana are completely English.
I could put it back one more, but it really won’t help you because that’s getting back to Edward VI.
Yes, he’s part German, but he’s way more English than German.
Queen Dowager.
I has occurred to me now and on former occasions minds that don’t give are crap are constipated and also mush be full of it. Whoops did I say that?
She can call herself the Queen of England, it doesn’t make it so. :)
Lol, no, that would not make it so, although it remains so. Point was and is, the name was legally changed under their laws. As an aside, I’d like to see the look on a judge’s face if I tried to change my simple 5 letter surname to Snicklefritz.
I’m sorry for using that terrible pun. Just couldn’t resist.
King Edward VII was the son of Queen Victoria and he was of the House of Saxe-Coburg Gotha (from his father Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg Gotha).
The royal family of England went by the name of Saxe-Coburg Gotha until right before the start of the first World War. Anti-German sentiment lead the royal family under king George V to change their name to “Windsor” in 1917.
This led the Kaiser of Germany (his cousin) to quip that “I look forward to seeing the play “The Merry Wives of Saxe-Coburg Gotha”.”
