I think you mean Camilla, not Fergie. But if Queen Elizabeth dies Charles will become King. Normally his wife would become Queen, but given the ill-will many still feel towards her from the Diana days that may not be politically possible, if not then she will be given a lesser title, such as Princess Consort (just as Prince Phillips title is the Prince Consort). If Charles becomes King and then dies William and Catherine would become King and Queen and Camilla would be either the Queen Dowager (if she is crowned queen) or some other formulation if she is not

Okay, you are really confused. Fergie is the ex-wife of Charles brother, Andrew. She is not going to be Queen of anything anytime soon.

If you mean, Camilla, (Charles' wife). She may or may not become "Queen" depending on whether or not the family thinks the public will accept it. She seems to be more popular now than when they first married.

When Charles dies, William becomes King. Camilla is retired. She has no right to a title just because she married Charles. Now, if Diana had lived, and she and Charles had remained married. When Charles dies, she would have had the title of "Queen Mother" (as Queen Elizabeth's mother was called).

Does that help, or did I just confuse you more?

You've never done genealogy and run into somebody with a title as a surname have you? For old American families it isn't difficult. Used to be, before it was civilized a bit, that the only folks coming here were the younger brothers of a titled noble man or prisoners of some sort.

You live in a nation founded by the dispossessed ~ from both the top rung of society, and the bottom.

Once they got it in order folks from the middle could come here ~ and pay their own way. The noblemen's sons usually sent the bill to their eldest brother or dear old dad. The prisoners were happy enough for the free ride ~ better than a death penalty.

As an heir apparent (cannot be knocked out of line by a future birth), William would have also had the title Prince of Wales. A presumptive heir such as Harry would not.

However it all changed today. Prince Charles official government website addressed William as Prince of Wales until today, as he is now the Duke of Cambridge.

There's a Magyar prince in the background of virtually every member of what's called "the Family".

All of Europe's current nobles and royals are part of a large melange of cousins mostly traced back to Hugh Capet, a French dude, kinda. This is an historic wedding for the Brits because they've added someone new to the lines.

They needed it bad!

There, I've confused myself enough for one day..

Don't be so modest. - for the rest of the year at least.

Fergie is lead singer for the group Black Eyed Peas. AFAIK, she is not related by birth or marriage to the British Royal Family, and thus unlikel;y to become Queen.

This says the line of succession is William (if Charles predeceases Elizabeth) . Then Harry (if William has no children).

William would be the king. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but if Kate and William have kids, they would be elevated above Harry in the line of succession?

Was Diana not new blood? (I’m not a royal follower, so I don’t have a clue, but she did seem to add some better genes, at least a little height and better looks).

You are correct. It appears that in the line of succession, the oldest son is the one, and then his children automatically (if he has them and then their children, etc). If he has none, then it goes on to the next son. A daughter apparently can be Queen if there are no sons. I believe there is talk of changing that law tho, which they are trying to do before William and Kate have kids. I don’t see why not, Elizabeth has been a good monarch, and I expect if the English folk want that, it would work out.

Unfortunately for you, that’s not the case.

Their family name is Oldenburg, of the House of Oldenburg.

Prince Philip is a junior line descendent of one of the junior lines of Oldenburg:

Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksburg.

So, in really, he would be Prince William Oldenburg of Wales.

Again, not the case.

The family name of Queen Elizabeth, is that of the House of Guelph.

Saxe-Coburg-Gotha is a cadet branch of the house of Guelph-Este.
