Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but if Kate and William have kids, they would be elevated above Harry in the line of succession?

That's correct. Just like William and Harry (as Charles' sons) come before Andrew and Edward (as Charles' brothers) in succession.

Yes she was.

Prince Philip is Greek and Danish. Mostly Danish.

Diana is wholly English.

Elizabeth’s mom was wholly English as well, and her dad, was German.

So for William, now Duke of Cambridge, with his great-grandparents:

Danish, Greek, English, German, English, English, English, English.

That makes him 5/8ths English, 1/8th Dane, 1/8th German, 1/8th Greek.

Back in the days when folks were scouting out possible brides for Chuck she was dismissed as "just another Earl's daughter" ~ so, yeah, she's part of the clan.

Her family had gone into sausage making. Guess they ran out of money.

Thank you for the info. My Mom was very into family history. Of course the most interesting thing was discovering what a mongrel I am. :)

No, those are all his Christian names. Louis is for Louis Mountbatten, who had a great influence on Prince Charles.

You are both right...I did mean Camilla...I don't know where I got Fergie from.

But you have both greatly enlightened me and I do appreciate it.

No, Camilla will never be crowned at all and will never be anything other than the Duchess of Cornwall. That was the deal that was made before the marriage.

For some reason I thought they were from South Africa. Why did I think that? They were certainly better looking than the Windsors. Can you imagine trying to learn English History for school children? Yikes!

William. The son of the son inherits. It is called primogeniture.

Yes. First born son to first born son. Then second son of first born son if the oldest son had no children. Then third son of first born son if the second born also had no children, etc.

Didn’t he attend St. Andrews under the name William Windsor?

She was distantly related to the royal family, descended from the Stuart line.

No not Greek at all - The Greek royalty were descendants of Queen Victoria, German.

Charles is the Prince of Wales. William is not. So, how does he get to use “Wales”. The Prince of Wales title is one that has always (I believe) been used for the heir to the throne, which would be Charles.

As you've noticed it is confusing, but there are two different types of princes. Prince of Wales is a peerage title and only one person holds it at a time, right now that is Elizabeth II’s eldest son Charles. The other type of prince is shorthand for “prince/princess of the United Kingdom”. All children of monarchs and all grandchildren in the male line are princes/princesses of the United Kingdom. Obviously there can be whole bunches of them.

Children of a monarch are referred to The Prince Charles, The Prince Andrew, The Princess Anne, and so on. Grandchild princes/princesses are referred to by their father's title - Prince William of Wales, his cousin Princess Beatrix of York, and so on. So in Prince William's case, the “of Wales” is simply a description that indicates his father's title, it's not a title itself.

Elizabeth's mom would have your ears if she heard you say that. She was Scottish.
