Meh. I suspect I'm one of the few Freepers here who had hoped for a different director.

>>> New York Times: Jackson to direct ‘The Hobbit’

I glanced at this and for a fraction of a moment I thought it referred to Jesse. And I was thinking what an odd film that would be.

Cate Blanchett is going to be in it. I wonder if John Williams will score the soundtrack.

Go to xtranormal.com and make the Hobbit as Jesse Jackson would direct it. If you haven’t tried your hand at it, it’s really fun (and very easy to do). “If you can type, you can make movies.”

Well, I’m happy. I was enchanted with Jackson’s effort in LOTR even if everything wasn’t perfect. It’s never going to be perfect because each of us has a unique mental image of how it’s all supposed to be.

I can see it now:

Yeah, you probably are one of the few. Jackson is a terrific director who did a truly amazing job on the LOTR trilogy. Not too crazy about the whole 3D thing, but I’m willing to give it a chance.

“I wonder if John Williams will score the soundtrack.”

Why would he? Howard Shore did the LOTR scores. I for one am sick of Williams’s sound on epic movies. His scores for the Star Wars prequels were awful, though the third one had a few good bits. I suspect Shore, who won 2 score Oscars and a song Oscar for his work on the LOTR movies, will do these, too. His score for Jackson’s King Kong was rejected but I have a feeling this is a different situation.

“Jackson is a terrific director who did a truly amazing job on the LOTR trilogy.”

Only if you overlook the fact that he changed motivations and personalities for several of the characters (including main characters, changed (as opposed to omitted) certain plot points, and omitted a delightful rebuttal to the evils of socialism (Scouring of the Shire) on the grounds that he “didn’t like that part in the book”.

How come they don’t have a site where you can make political cartoons, even though you lack skills in drawing the human figure?

Some graphics nerd ccould make millions.

How much kissy face holly weird blasphemy must they instill upon another of Tolkein's tomes of mythology?

If Jackson is looking for something to do, how about the last half of the Return of the King!

Stupid movie just ignored half of the last book!

pop out to mp3 Mr Baggins
