On Palin: The Politics of Criticism vs. the Politics of Destruction
June 26, 2010 | vanity

Posted on 06/26/2010 1:15:17 PM PDT by CondoleezzaProtege

It is good to criticize fanaticism, esp. BLIND fanaticism, but be equally weary of the fanatical Palin haters that parade around this site. Regardless of how some mask their true wishes for Palin in "constructive critic" guise, there are plenty of writers and thinkers out there who offer honest critique of Palin while having her and our country's best interests in mind and therefore want her to come out WINNING.

Most of the FR trolls who post the latest Palin hit-piece of the day could care less for Palin and take joy everytime she supposedly "falls." To these types, Palin is an enemy that must be destroyed for GOOD, not a leader with clear weaknesses to address.

There is something viscerally powerful about Palin that goes beyond her nonconformist style of operation and beyond her gender (even women such as Michele Bachmann and Nikki Haley do not attract the level of reactionary responses that Palin does.)

It's fascinating to ponder how and why God is using her and her family to invoke such captivating responses from people across the world. The hate, envy, and ultimately FEAR she is met with by some corners of society is truly remarkable...and some of the people most threatened by her continual rise to prominence happen to be members of this site.

Point out where I used leftist talking points.

I see the tactics of the left coming from those who wish to construct what manner of speech or criticism is acceptable as being leftist.

Palin has many great qualities. She also has a long road ahead of her to get a nomination.

I will wait a see how she goes about it.

By the way, she is a Republican, thats whay she backs people like McCain, Fiorina. Yes. She also backs conservatives. She will be running as an establishment republican.

I would rather have Palin on her worst day as President than that rinophag Romney on his best.

The latter is running on the wink wink handshake blessings of Soros.

It is very distressing that many FReepers- who cannot support Mitt Romney as a presidential candidate- have begun to follow the leftist strategy of hateful invective.

It is very distressing that many FReepers- who cannot support Mike Hukabee as a presidential candidate- have begun to follow the leftist strategy of hateful invective.

It is very distressing that many FReepers- who cannot support Ron Paul as a presidential candidate- have begun to follow the leftist strategy of hateful invective.

It is very distressing that many FReepers- who cannot support John McCain as a presidential candidate- have begun to follow the leftist strategy of hateful invective.

Why is Sarah so different?

Point out where I used leftist talking points.

I'm talking about Palin haters in general. Saying she's a quitter, she's not ready, she should serve in the Senate first, she should get rid of her accent etc., are all standard left-wing talking points that have no bearing with her accomplishments and record.

I see the tactics of the left coming from those who wish to construct what manner of speech or criticism is acceptable as being leftist.

I see projection from you. You're upset that there is a politician that people vehemently support and will go to Hell to defend her. Since you're losing the debate, you want to accuse us of engaging in Orwellian speak and say that all criticism of Palin is forbidden. Never mind that it's YOU GUYS who call us cultists and Palinbots when all we're doing is defending our candidate.

Palin has many great qualities. She also has a long road ahead of her to get a nomination.

Again, we understand this and none of her supporters are asking for a coronation. We're just pointing out the unfair obstacles that some conservatives are throwing in front of her, like repeating the talking points I described earlier.

Spin machine. Won’t work as a nominee.

Whatever. Like I said, there is a contingent of FReepers who want that nice, safe, moderate, bland establishment hack Republican to win the nomination so he doesn't upset the apple cart. When it comes to implementing a true conservative agenda you guys are wussies.

You are silly. You make your mind up about people and PROJECT your thoughts as the final word.

So be it. Truth is, I don’t hate Palin. I wish to see her take a great path, differently than the current one.

You are good!!!

All that hatred was also distressing; however, I have been reminded that Sarah has not declared her candidacy so the issue is moot.

Campaigning for Juan McAmnesty isn’t what I’d call promoting conservatism.

But they keep repeating the same left-wing garbage over and over again.

That's my main problem with them. Debate and discussion is one thing. Keeping on hammering in already discredited and untrue talking points is another, i.e. "Palin's for amnesty", practically anything BobJ says, etc.

The problem is that some people choose to remain willfully ignorant, thus they won’t read Palin’s book or even bother to find out if the latest rumor about her is true or not.

If you asked 100 random people what they know most about Sarah Palin, I guarantee that at least half would parrot the “I can see Russia from my house.” falsehood.

Do tell, what path she should have taken other than the successful one she's on now.

Yeah, she should have stayed in office and been ruined politically and financially and be a bigger pariah to conservatism than Tom DeLay.

But us Palin supporters don't care that she endorsed McCain. We knew it was coming long before JD declared, and we understand that it's really nothing more than a thank-you to McCain.

She's not stopping us from supporting JD.

EEE,
We have been on this forum for a long time. I can’t honestly tell you that I would ever support Palin. Her thoughts are good, but OMG, she is what I have to look forward too? Be honest. WTF???

Politics is tough. Our side has been pathetic at standing up to the left. Actions speak louder than words.

Not allowing them to drive you out of office is tough.

What the Hell do you think she's been doing?
She has been hammering Obama non-stop. She forced him to meet with McCrystal & then the BP executive. She almost derailed Obamacare.

Not allowing them to drive you out of office is tough.

OK, you're being sued by outside parties and state law provides no recourse. What would you have done?

“Our side has been pathetic at standing up to the left”

I knew if I followed enough posts I could finally find one thing I agreed with you.

On the other hand, you are quite wishy washy going from Palin can’t cut it to words to the effect of “we’ll see if she can cut it.” Those of you that show such animus for Palin seem afraid to say who your favorite for the nomination is. Is it because you are afraid of getting laughed out of here?

Those of you who continually and continuously attack Palin personally and not her positions are in the same league as Soros, DU, Huffington Post, MSNBC, NYT, WashPist, and other trash. And an endorsement is not a position. She is certainly not a lightweight like the rest of the likely potential candidates floating around.

Healthy disagreement is fine but the attacks on her in FR are not healthy and threaten the perception of FR as a real conservative website.
