I don’t understand why we don’t use more diesel technology.

I have a diesel pickup that dynos 450RWHP (after some mods), weighs 6,500 pounds, runs a 1/4 in 13 seconds and gets 25-26MPG (empty) on the highway.

There is no reason a 4 cylinder turbo diesel sedan couldn’t get 50-60MPG. You can make biodiesel from about anything from peanuts to algae poop.

You can get a Subaru wagon for about the same price ...

Seats 5, gets 26-28 mpg city/32-34 mpg highway, PLUS you have a lot of room for hauling stuff around ...

Subaru is the better deal ...

my ‘96 Passat TDI Wagon (46-50 Hwy, 40 City) will turn 300,000 miles in about 3 weeks. Big Party planned at my mechanic’s shop - we will apply flame decals to the car’s flanks while playing its theme song, “Born to Be Wild.”

Our “new” car, an ‘02 TDI Golf is just getting broken in at 137,000 miles, with similar fuel economy.

Now, if VW would only bring over a manual transmission TDI “CC” sedan.....

Looks like crap for 19k, if it cost 12k base price, I would consider it if it wasn’t made by Government Motors.

I'll walk first.

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

It’s not surprising that a conventional auto could have “hybrid like” numbers.

The whole “hybrid” gig is just a hoax. About like H1N1 or AGW.
