This is pretty good. I can pick up my neighbor’s router and he’s about 500 feet away. Until about six months ago it was unsecured.

I tell people to name theirs names to discourage use.

Here are some SSIDs I know people have used after my suggestion:

“Illegal Wireless Use Detected”
“NJ STATUTE Violation 4.C1-23E.”
“NJ State Police Repeater 43”
“Illegal use”
“NOT CONNECTED”
“WEAK SIGNAL”

Etc.

Yeah, I don’t broadcast my SSID either.

And yes, I’ve changed the name of my wireless network.

Which reminds me, I need to add a firewall between my wireless router/firewall and my main network.

I’m paranoid that way.
