Census workers heading into neighborhoods
The Kerrville Daily Times ^ | Published April 13, 2009 | ySonya Campbell

U.S. Census activities have begun nationwide, with workers updating address lists and maps. The information will be used to distribute census forms, according to the United States Department of Commerce Economics and Statistics Administration’s regional census center in Dallas.

Officials are asking the public’s cooperation in allowing Census Bureau employees access into buildings and communities to perform their official duties.

Because the 2010 Census is a complex operation that involves several phases, more than one census worker may request access during the next several months.

The workers have identification badges that should be displayed while they are on duty. Also, they will provide their local census office phone number for verification of employment when requested to do so.

All census takers are federal employees who are required by Title 13 of the United States Code and have taken an oath to protect the confidentiality of the information they collect.

Only authorized, sworn Census Bureau employees have access to the reported information. The data is used for statistical purposes only, meaning no person nor household can be identified from the published census results.

The U.S. Census Bureau is required to take an official count of people residing in the United States every 10 years. This count determines the number of seats in the U.S. House of Representatives per state and the distribution of state and federal funds for highways and schools.

Census data shows the demographic makeup of individual communities, states and the nation. It dictates where to build schools, form election districts and locate energy sources, such as gas and electricity.

Get ready, everybody

NYC will probably be one of the first to implement Martial Law.

The census is all about reporting significant population increases in Democrat areas, and vice versa for Republican.

If they don’t give me free tickets to something, I’m not participating. I haven’t got any free stuff from this “hope and change” gig yet and I’m pissed.

“Hi, I’m from the Census Bureau. I’d like to ask you some questions.”

“I don’t want to answer them.”

Not all of us are community organizers, some of US are actually loyal Americans just trying to do a job..

BTW: Isn’t it better to get counted so that maybe your state (unless you live in a liberal area) gets to keep that one Republican Rep?

Fine. Count away. That's 'enumerate', as provided in the Constitution. I'm all for it. Anything else, any other information you may seek represents ONLY the Regress acting beyond their Constitutionally granted authority. You might want to read Article I, Section 8, and Amendment X again.

Don't even think about asking our household any other questions. At all.

I dont care to get counted (was being silly.) Will just be interesting to see where they show up... I did not receive a questionaire in the mail so Im wondering if they will knock on my door here before I move, my ‘new door’ after I move (to another state,) both, or neither.

The Constitution requires a census. Fine: three people live here.
The Constitution also requires a warrant for any details beyond simple geographic enumeration. Fine: you want to know how many toilets are in my house*, ask a judge to sign a warrant.

(* - one of the many pointlessly detailed questions asked in the last census, with threat of a fine if not answered. The threat was eventually rescinded.)
