Vanity of Vanities

Posted on 10/15/2008 9:52:45 AM PDT by Some Fat Guy in L.A.

I don't normally post threads - but I had to get this off my chest. The doom and gloom on this board lately has been getting me down.

It doesn’t look good for the Republicans at the moment, but all is not completely lost. On the bright side:

1. We know that the nationally reported polls are biased in Obama’s favor. Some of them are reporting Obama leading by huge margins. We know that this is not true. Obama is leading, but by a few percentage points only. Fact is that every presidential election is exactly the same – roughly 40% will vote Rat no matter who is running, and roughly 40% will vote Republican (again no matter who is running). The election hinges on turnout and where the other 20% will fall. McCain and especially Palin are drawing huge, enthusiastic crowds wherever they campaign – this is not indicative of a totally lost cause (like Bob Dole was).

2. We know that the national media is totally in the tank for the Rats. There is no pretext of objectivity any more – the bias is totally open and obvious. Even though many people still get their news from TV and newspapers and are thus subject to the toxic sludge, more and more people are turning to the alternative media for real news. The old media still wield enormous clout, but less than they give themselves credit for, and most of those watching are already in the 40% Rat category above, so the actual effect of minds being corrupted is probably not that great.

3. We know that Obama is an incredibly weak candidate. He is truly an empty suit with as much qualification to be leader of the free world and commander-in-chief of the greatest military machine the world has ever seen as my teenage daughters. The Barak Obama that millions of useful idiots will vote for in 3 weeks is really a media construct – the true Obama is a shallow, talentless, Marxist, corrupt hack with no management or leadership skills, experience or ability, and who hates America and white people. Without the active support of a constituency that will vote for race above all else, liberal PC white guilt, vote fraud and the whitewash coat applied by the old media, this fool would have exactly zero chance of being elected to anything. He needed to hire Joe Biden to provide gravitas, for Pete’s sake. John Kerry looks like a statesman next to this guy.

4. We know that the economic outlook is not as bad as is being painted by the old media. Our IRA’s and 401K’s have taken a hit, but unless you are going to retire soon they will probably bounce back given time. Gas has dropped by a buck a gallon and is still dropping, making it easier for us to make ends meet. Jobs are being lost, but it is mostly jobs in the financial, insurance and real estate areas at this time – most of us are not affected yet (not to minimize anyone losing their job – I’ve been there and know how traumatic it can be). Life goes on and we are surviving for now. People are still buying homes and vehicles, still taking vacations, still sending their kids to college – it’s just a little harder to get backing if your credit is not good. What most people fail to realize is that most money is not in any tangible form – it’s a blip in a computer’s memory. The gazillions of dollars for the various bailouts are actually funny money that can and will be manufactured out of thin air on government computers – it won’t be like the old Hagar the Horrible cartoon where the tax collector comes with an axe and ransacks your house. While this has consequences for the overall economy, it won’t directly effect most of us.

On the other hand:

1. The Republican candidate is also weak. Very few on this board supported McCain before he picked Sarah Palin as his running mate, and most of us are actually supporting her rather than him. The meme put out by the Obama campaign, that a McCain presidency would be similar to Bush’s 3rd term is actually probably close to the truth – even though he and Bush disagree on many issues, he is similar to Bush in that his leadership skills appear to be lacking, allowing the actual decisions to be made by staff, and his desire for civility and bipartisanship appears to trump his judgment at times. His campaign looked solid up until the convention, but has fallen apart since (ever since Schmidt came out with his true-but-bizarre slam on the NY Slimes, the campaign has been drifting aimlessly – what’s up with that, anyway?). Even though we realize that a McCain admin would be far preferable to Obama, we are not enthusiastic about it – we are far more enthusiastic about a future Palin administration.

2. The economic situation is grave. Despite all evidence to the contrary, easily available to anyone who cares, the old media whitewash of this as a Rep/Bush crisis seems to have become the common view. The conservative approach – let the market go where it wills, don’t bail out people who took bad risks and made bad decisions, provide a safety net for those that need it – is not even in the discussion (even though polls show most folks favor this approach over the bailout). The bailout bill is a nightmare – laden with pork and favors to the very people who caused the mess in the first place, including Obama’s buddies at ACORN. The crooks and gamblers will win, the honest little guy will lose. While we know that the Rats are more responsible for this situation than the Republicans, and that the bulk of the issues happened on the Rats watch in Congress, it will be perceived as a Bush problem and taken out on the Republicans in November. What was starting to look like a tolerable situation with little change in congress now looks like a total Rat rout.

3. The Bush administration and the Republican party are only marginally better than the alternative. Mr. Bush has done some very good things in office and will be seen by history as a good president, I think, but he has also allowed the creep of socialism into government to continue. He is like some of the Biblical kings of Judah that, while they were good men who listened to God and did His will, they did not totally remove the satanic influences from the country (the “high places”). In terms of greed, corruption and immorality, the Pubbies are not much better than the Rats. There are more exceptions on the Republican side, but it’s getting harder and harder for an honest, moral person to get elected to office – Satan tries to drag them into the muck as he has tried with Sarah Palin.

4. The old media whitewash of Obama’s flaws appears to be working beyond the old media’s power to influence people, and beyond normal human corruption and partisan politics. Normally thinking, rational people are going all dewey-eyed over this dork – the “messiah” shtick doesn’t appear to be planned but rather to have risen spontaneously, and the increasingly creepy Obama seems to accept it as his due. This speaks to me of a greater power at work.

Being a born-again, Bible-reading, praying Christian (a.k.a. a “bitter clinger”), I have to conclude that we are witnessing a great battle in the spiritual war between good and evil, and evil appears to have the upper hand at this time. We know that we are living in Satan’s world (thus all true Christians are living behind enemy lines), but that God has prevented Satan from totally overwhelming the world in the past. The United States of America was one of God’s counterstrokes in the war – we are one of the main barriers that has prevented Satan from taking complete control of the world.

If God is ready for the world to be overwhelmed by Satan and for the end times to begin, there’s nothing we can do to prevent it. Even so, come Lord Jesus! An Obama win will likely trigger this IMHO – he may really be the Biblical Antichrist. If, however, God means for the last Godly nation to continue for now, perhaps even to be made stronger and to reject satanic encroachment (such as homosexuality, islam, drugs, and the kind of Rat corruption that has destroyed many of our inner cities), then He may move to allow His leadership, in the person of Sarah Palin, to take root. He could also allow Obama to win but prevent him from enacting Satan’s full agenda, setting the table for another battle in 4 years. Whatever happens, I pray God’s protection on His children. Whatever happens will be His will.

Aw geeze ... Not this crapola again.

Do yourself a favor. Get a few guns & some ammo. That way you can be part of the solution.

If you're a conscientious objector, get some bandages & iodine so you can help the wounded, in between cooking chow & passing the ammo.

Well said. I agree with your post.

No matter who wins the US election, God is still God, and we are still victorious. So there is no need to worry.
Not to mention that four years is not that long. I do hope that Obama doesn’t screw things up too bad, but I also hope he and his ideas are a failure, and that America will be ready for REAL change, like Palin/Jindal.

On the other hand, an Obama presidency may mean that we, the Freedom Loving conservatives of America, will have to take the lead in defending this country should we be invaded because of Barack’s reluctance or indifference to national security. If that is the case, lock and load. We also may find ourselves in the position of having to defend our rights from our own government in ways we have never imagined.

If things get too bad, we can all move to Texas (lot’s of land) and join the secessionist movement there. I would have no problem seceeding if America ceases to be America.

You are seeing clearly, IMO. Remember that God gave the people a king in 1 Samuel; because it was what the people wanted.

He allowed the world to do what was right in their own eyes before the flood. Then again in Judges ... men did what was right in their own eyes. Not with good outcomes.

We are again doing what is right in our own eyes.

2 Chronicles 7:14 is the correct response for out time.

“14 if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Think on these things.

God says He will hear

He will forgive their sin

and He will heal their land.

Our part is to bow down, humble ourselves.

Pray

Seek His face

turn from their wicked ways.

then God will do His part. No other order will He hear.
