I’ll admit he didn’t have much of a facial expression this time, but I think that’s because he knew he was way out of line and needed to strictly fly under radar. But as I said, the audience picked up immediately on it. Immediately. The applause makes no sense unless the phrase had loaded meaning. And following it up with the fish comment was simply despicable confirmation. This guy is out of control and dangerous. Thankfully, he’ll do the harm to himself first.
YIPPEE! Now he will have to apologize and look really really lame!
He was getting the crowd quiet so he could set up these comments. Barry knows what he's doing and knows how to work a crowd. I'm sure they were tested on nut-roots focus groups and got a good response. They certainly did from the partisan audience.
They were designed to be “edgy” and “hard-hitting” because Barry was going to show he wasn't going to be bullied by the Right Wing Attack Machine.
He just focus-grouped himself out of the Presidency.

Truth be told, ‘You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig’ is an old, standard, folksy way of dismissing superficial changes as changes. I don’t think it was a deliberate attempt to call Gov. Palin a pig. Rather what it proves is that Obama isn’t even the rhetorical genius he’s been passed off as. Anyone with a good sense of rhetoric would see that, in the wake of Palin’s self-depricating lipstick joke, the use of that metaphor would be taken as an attack on her.
And if Obama isn’t a rhetorical genius, what the h*ll good is he? He has a nice voice and delivery. Maybe he can take up acting and become the next Morgan Freeman. All he seems to be good for is reading lines.
What the hell kind of a wimpy strategy is that?
Better to go after Dead Eyes Obama full force now and depict him as the racist sexist vicious man that he is.
I guess Big Mouth Joe Biden has become Obama’s speaking coach.
