People walking along the beach spotted this. Sorry don't know how to post pictures. It's all over the web though. If anyone can figure this one out FReepers can. It has been on Fox News, News Day, You Tube etc. Did a search here and found nothing. Have at it!

Someone else explained the beak (decomp) but I can’t figure out the *fingers* on the dog. What breed has fingers?

It could be. The photo is so bad, it didn’t look like a bone protruding. I am always amazed at the bad photos people get. BTW I have never seen the second photo, that looks MUCH more like a dog (altho it also looks like manbearpig). I figured it was a hoax, but it probably really is a dog. Poor dog!

Looking at the photos from different angles, the head is longer than it looked in the first photo. Interesting what things can look like!

Angle can make a big difference. Look at the ‘face on mars’, nothing more than a pile of rocks from most angles.
Definitely canine.
I’m thinking pitt bull mix, judging by the shortened muzzle.

Originally I thought it was a possum. However, after much study it looks like my hopes have come true. It's my ex-boss who obviously fell off his sailboat and drowned........he was as much a jerk as he was ugly.
In the first photo the animals front legs appeared to have been tied with a piece of cloth. Looks like someone got rid of a dog in the bay or ocean.
That’s what I figured it was (someone mentioned it in an earlier thread and it made perfect sense). I think there are things out there we haven’t seen yet (they discover new spiders and things even now) but something this large, and this odd, a doglike creature with fingers and a beak (a griphyn) would just not have been able to hide any more than a manlike/apelike creature could be hiding in the woods in the Pacific Northwest.

Now that I see it from this angle, it really looks like a dog.
The bottom picture shows the ears and hind legs and the “beak” just looks like the snout decomposed faster than the rest or got nibbled by fishies first.
My dog has “fingers”. He’s part lab/part pit. They’re freakishly long, so it makes sense, once decayed, that they would look even longer.

What’s funny...or creepy, depending on how you look at it, is that the Montauk creature, laying on its side, looks just like my dog laying on his side. Big gut, long toes, etc. So of course, I think it’s just a dog.
No Flickr page - I have a personal photography website of photos. The spider pic of yours rings *so* true (and your pics are really sharp! Nice job!!!). I love taking super-close shots of critters!
