Five Inland area Starbucks stores to close

Coffee giant Starbucks Corp. has released its first list of store closures since it announced a major downsizing July 1, and five of the eight California locations to be shuttered are in the Inland area.

Finally some semblance of sanity may be creeping into the American mindset.

We bitch and moan about paying five dollars for a gallon gas while we sit in line and wait to pay five dollars for 16 ounces of coffee.

I am a cheap sucker. Never been to a Starbucks, not going to one either. I heard about their prices for coffee. As much as I love coffee, grind my own “Rich Roast” beans, the whole bit, I won’t do a Starbucks.

A normal coffee at Starbucks runs $2.02 (or $2.12 for a 20 oz). I don't see that as abhorrent at all. Actually, if you're going to buy coffee out, it's a pretty good deal.

Gas station coffee will generally run $1.39-$1.59 here. With the Starbucks coffee you get:

1) Better quality and far better taste
2) Better cups
3) More caffeine. 29% more than Dunkin' Donuts and 52% more than a 7-11.

What they serve and call coffee and what they charge for it they should close every one of them!!

Starbucks is more than coffee, it is a place to meet, comfortable. You don’t get nice for free. Like hey, meet me at McDonalds and we will talk over that deal.

Starbucks came up with a great concept. Wish them well. When we can no longer afford simple $5 luxuries, we are in trouble as a country. Maybe we already are.

There are 2 Starbucks each within a 5 minute drive from my office...what makes me avoid them is that they charge you for wireless (ok, so they DON’T charge you for it, but you have to pay someone else for it.)

I’d rather drive a little longer to the sole It’s A Grind close to me...better tasting coffee, and FREE wi-fi!

600 Starbucks is equal to approximately 12 Starbucks per state. I’d bet that a couple hundred could close in CA alone and few people would notice. Here in the Phoenix area, I can be at a Starbucks anywhere in town in about ten minutes. Sbux just overbuilt and the increasing price of fuel has made a lot of people think twice about paying the same amount for a gallon of gas as a frappucino. Having said that, I had five frappucinos five days in a row a couple of weeks ago when my kids were in VBS, and I had to drive them to church early every morning. They’re icy cold, yummy, and I felt like treating myself.
