I’ve heard great things about Tiger Army — but have yet to hear them. If they’re psychobilly, how similar are they to the Cramps (one of my all time, desert island must have bands)?

"Cash was definitely very open minded about music, how many country artists have done covers of Nine Inch Nails?"

He also recorded tons of gospel music. Also one of his last songs, "When the man comes around" contains the most beautiful and haunting Biblical lyrics I've ever heard. When you realize he knew he was dying when he wrote it it takes on a whole new level of meaning.

To be honest, I never listened to the Cramps. Tiger Army is sort of hard to compare if you don’t know the genre. Think rockabilly, speed it up a bit, and in some Social Distortion, Misfits, 70’s punk with a Western (not country) spin, hard to describe...The guy who basically is Tiger Army grew up in a small town in northern California, the same town that the guys in AFI came from, and they are good friends. Early AFI sounds alot like TA.

Check out the Cramps when you can, I was always under the impression that they were considered to be the originators of psychobilly (they have that really twangy, acid, B52s meet Deliverance sound). I’ll definitely check out Tiger Army — they sound pretty up my alley. Misfits, Social D — good stuff.
