My newspaper (the Baltimore Sun) gave it a low rating as well. To me that’s a reason to go see it.
The liberal media didn’t like The Kingdom as well, but I thought it was great.

Lets see, put out good family entertainment, maka lotta money. Put out anti-war left-wing screed, loosa lotta money. Like Duh!? Which movie should we make? The latter. Gotta put out edgy, revisionist guano to save face with movie-mogul peers.

I saw Walk Hard. They where making fun of people who said Rock n Roll is the devils music, but it was a horrible movie.

O.K., I'm not going to go down this road with you about this since I'm well aware of the history of both Confederate and Union intelligence, espionage, and sabotage during the conflict. However, I do offer you two words in parting:

“My wife and I saw it Friday night. I did not think that it was as good as the first movie, and I did not like the cheap shots that it took at the U.S. South, with Gates lecturing at the beginning of the story about southern extremists (very loaded word in todays Islamic terrorism context) operating against the North in 1865 and Wilkinsons character being described as a VMI graduate and mercenary. Moreover, Wilkinson and all his henchmen had noticeable southern accents. Typical Hollywood slam against anything southern in todays America.”
Interesting. I realize the Charles Gates in the first movie during the revolution was probably a made up character, but I have an ancestor (grgrgr?grandfather) that served in the revolution with the same name. Curiously that branch of the family all became Confederates.

“Think Nick Cage is very cool. Would be quite surprised if he didnt post here.”
I told him not to and to keep his politics to himself. People here base their movie going experience upon the actors/actresses’ politics.

Had thought about seeing it until I saw that my 2 newspapers gave it 1/2 star & 1 1/2 stars... With my two (Mpls. and St. Paul) dailies, bad reviews from liberal critics are usually reliable indicators a movie merits FReepers' attendance.

The first one was a fine movie. Not great or spectacular, but a very fine and decent movie.
I look forward to seeing this one.

How was the Goofy short? I heard it was really old school and just wonderful. Well, it was so cool that the main feature had a +3 going in just for that.
Then the movie came and I'd give it an 8 out of 10 even without the boost. It is SO nice to see the Walt Disney corporation getting back to the stuff that made it the household name that it is. Between "Enchanted" and "National Treasure", the stench of the Michael Eisner error is slowly dissipating.

Since you know Nicholas Cage, I’d really appreciate if you could ask James Marsden to send me a recording of his rendition of “O Holy Night”
It would make my Christmases forever.
Thanks ;-).

I saw the movie Saturday afternoon with two of my kids. I thought it was great. We all thought it was better than the first movie. Goofy short was right on. Looks like the Narnia movie next spring will be better than the first one as well.
Go see them all and let Hollywood know what you like.

Its very satisfying that Walk Hard, which tried to sell itself with a trailer that featured a Christian minister getting punched in the face as a big laugh-getter, has utterly bombed. A $4.1 opening weekend for a major studio release is an absolute disaster. Walk Hard + Charlie Wilson's War = 30% of National Treasure's receipts

I wanted to see it so bad, but my kiddies wouldn’t make it through National Treasure.
I can’t spend 10.00 a ticket just to see the short. I’ll have to wait for the DVD. Poo.

I think Cage is a typical Hollywood liberal. Despite that, I will have to admit I like him as a actor. Also liked him in that movie about an Island in Greece during WWII, something about Corelli and Mandolin but for some reason I can’t recall the exact title.

My dad used to say the same about Goofy learning to play golf.I remember that show. And, he was not playing golf. He was playing F-l-o-g. Golf spelled backwards as I remember the joke in the show!!! :)

I can’t let everyone’s politics get in the way of a really good movie.
I’m not sure this one is but if I did that I would have had to skip Enchanted because of Susan Sarandon and probably would have just died.
