"I told him not to and to keep his politics to himself. People here base their movie going experience upon the actors/actresses’ politics."

I don't know anything about Nic Cage's politics. Which is a good thing. I just assume everyone in Hollywood is a liberal and leave it at that. The only time it affects my seeing a movie is when someone is a repulsive, vocal anti-American leftist, like Tim Robbins. Then I just can't sit back and enjoy. Kind of like seeing Naked Gun now starring OJ Simpson. It takes the fun out of the movie knowing I'm watching a murderer. Tom Hanks is a good example of someone who is a leftist, but I still like his movies because he doesn't rub our noses in "how awful America is".

There are actors that I refuse to go to their movies. I simply cannot stand to look at their faces, and I will not put money in their pockets. Any movie with Tim Robbins, his slut wife Susan Sarandan, Fat Assed Rosie, Sean Penn, Richard Gere, Danny Glover, and a few others, I simply will not go see. I liked the action in the three Cruise movies about Mission Impossible, and I like the Borne movies, though I do not like either of the actors in those. I cannot stand Tom Cruise either. I think he is a Smurf punk.

I’ll do that. He’s supposed to be hooking me up with Penelope Cruz on a double date next week.

in today's Parade Magazine:

Q. Tom Selleck is an NRA member and calls himself a libertarian. Have his right-wing positions hurt his career in liberal Hollywood? —J.H., Ocala, Fla.

A. Not that we can detect. Selleck has worked steadily since he hit it big in Magnum, P.I. in 1980. Even now, at 62, he stars on NBC’s Las Vegas and in CBS’s Jesse Stone movies, about a small-town police chief.

Maybe Tony Romo jinxed Jessica by showing up at the theater.

I know Selleck is an exception in Hollywood. He was hilarious in 1992 when he appeared on the tonight show with Jay Leno, bashing Clinton as a total phony. He talked about Clinton being in some photo-op as a “regular guy” in a flannel shirt, but how you could still see the folds in it where someone had just taken it out of the wrapper. You just don’t see that very often, someone pointing out the hypocrisy of liberals.

The best news of all, “The Golden Compass” has already fallen off the face of the Earth.

Selleck’s in that TV show ‘Las Vegas’ this season. It is so sleazy that I’ve lost respect for him.

Agreed. Nothing like a movie you can watch with your entire family and not cringe. The first movie was very entertaining and we plan to see this one next weekend.

I watch virtually no prime-time network TV, but I have seen him in the adaptations of the Robert Parker Jesse Stone novels.

I agree! Although in “Enchanted”, I think the joke’s on Susan Sarandon, who plays the Evil Queen/Stepmother/Witch/Hag role.

The video clip includes the scene where she’s in the witch/hag makeup.

The Golden Compass has slipped to #9, and is falling fast.

This Week: 9 Last Week: 3 The Golden Compass New Line
Weekend Gross - $3,980,000 Down 54.9%
Theater Count - 2,953 Down 575 Per Screen $1,347
Domestic Cume: $48,418,000 Budget $180,000,000 Week 3

A fifth of the theaters bailed on this stinker last week. Another half should be clamoring to get National Treasure up on the screen. Of the top 10 movies, The Golden Compass has the lowest per screen earnings, and that is only going to get worse.

With any luck, this thing will be off most screens for the Christmas Break between Christmas and New Years, when lots of families are looking for things to do, and it is not going to have the opportunity to have a rebound.

Even with the $50M in overseas box office, there is no way New Line is making the money back on this turkey. I would be very surprised to see any sequels.
