You guys are great at this stuff, and I do believe that everything happens for a reason.

She sounds so great. I pray for her and her children. Tell he to write a long letter to her boys to be open when they are 18. They will treasure that forever. I know it could be insensitve to discuss something like that but the boys will appreciate it.

I’m so sorry to hear this! I’ve had a few skin problems, myself ... and probably should get back to the dermatologist soon!

she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer She needs to get a second, third, or fourth opinion - I know too many survivors of ovarian cancer for this to be accepted as gospel...unless it's already too advanced.
At any rate, prayers for your co-worker - she has some very hard days ahead of her. God Bless you for being her friend.

She needs to speak to a lawyer immediately. If she can’t afford one, call around to whatever law schools are in your area and find out if any have a family law clinic (many do). If the boys’ father is alive, she’s going to have a very difficult time giving custody over to another relative. It is absolutely crucial that she take care of this right this minute.
