Ok, a vanity thread, I hope I don't get flamed, but I am curious if anyone is checking out this show and what they think.

So far, I think it's kind of cool, but some of the people and inventions are interesting, to say the least, some are actually really neat.

I did. Loved it, made my kids watch.
They made a mistake turning down the kid with the
air conditioner.
Very inspiring though. I recommend it highly.

I just watched it on my DVR

The inventions that they are giving thumbs up to are going to save the American technological lead? Puh-lease.

I'll probably keep watching just to see if things improve but c'mon. A two seater bike? a sandbag scooper? a personal exerciser (which looks suspiciously like the thing Chuck Norris used to advertise)

If were going to fight the Chinese and Indians off with that stuff, they're dreaming.

The sand bag scooper is a great idea, having filled sand bags in flood prone areas I would LOVE to have one of those!!! It would save so much time, tempers, fingers and most of all homes and lives.

The edible snow globes..cute but not an "invention" really just a cute craft idea.

The Sandbagger is an excellent idea. Can see if being bought by individuals but also municipalities, volunteer organizations, etc. The inventor had a heart for his invention.

I think this program will really get people to start imagining and inventing.

Good program!

The only reason I mentioned the sandbagger is it was one of the ones I could remember.

But remember the spiel at the beginning of the show... to paraphrase: We are fighting to keep our technological lead over India and China and if we don't come up with good inventions in 5 years we could find ourselves losing that lead.

Nothing on the show so far shows me anything that will advance our lead.

The show has potential but i wish they would remain focused on the theme of the show.

hattend,

I understand what you mean ... but, don't you think the show may encourage inventors, creators and thinkers?

I watched it tonight. Some of the inventions are dumb, like the stuffed therapy doll, but I thought the absorbtion cap was good. I was surprised how hard they had to fight to get that one to the next round.

I just want one of those blue fuzzy dolls that tells me "everything will be alright."

Are you kidding me, that was great. I'll be laughing at that one for weeks. "Everything....will...be...al...right".

What did you think of that contraption, to help you catch the football away from the body?

I watched the second episode and I really really hope the winners you saw going back stage without seeing their inventions had the good ones!!
The woman judge just went nuts about the big red ribbon bra..yes it wasn't an invention for the show but chill out alittle lady it wasn't worth that big of a fit.

Doug had it right when he asked the guy "What's the name of this show?"

He said it isn't "America's Greatest Sob Story" but that seems to be what it is.

There is no way that last guy is going to get his $80K investment back with that educational spelling game. Sure he got $50K of it back tonight but Doug is right, nobody will buy it.

$50K for a paper sheet? That won't go any further.

This show is really somewhat of a disappointment although there is nothing else to watch on Thursday.

I watched the first half of the first episode.

That was enough.

If you have clubs for hands, it won't help.

I've checked it out and think it is very cool...sometimes a bit uncomfortable to watch. Example:
The guy who is staking his life savings and reputation on the hope that his invention of designer clothing for your car will be the next big thing. Ouch.

The woman judge tonight is an absolute moron to reject the black guy with the weights. He is head and shoulders above the rest. But at least she didn't choose the ridiculous "diversity doll".
