Here's a picture of a spider that I found under my baker's rack awhile ago--I can't identify it though...was hoping some of the wonderful folks here might be able to help.
If it's a garden spider, we'll do a release into the back yard garden, but I have a 5 y/o and I don't want to take a chance that it's a dangerous spider.
Anyone got an idea what this might be?

That's funny. I got bit by a spider like that a couple of years back. It swelled up real bad and hurt something awful and then about two weeks later, all these baby spiders that looked like that came pouring out of the sore. But I think the two incidents were just coincidental.

I'm guessing a brown recluse. You need an exterminator, quick!

There's only two venomous spiders in the US and that ain't either.
If they wanted to be released into our garden they'd probably be there right instead of your kitchen. I'd kill 'em where they live.

If it is, brown recluse bites can be dangerous.

Similar to my story. I had something attach to my face. Later it fell off but while eating dinner that night my stomach started convulsing and this came out. We were able to kill it and mount it.

That is definitely not a brown recluse. BR's are not big and fuzzy like that one. They have essentially the same shape as a black widow but are brown with a white "fiddle" shaped marking on their backs.

It's a Wolf Spider. Don't listen to anyone else. It's harmless but, like all spiders, it can bite so I would kill it.

He's serious. Also, Bill Gates sent him a $1,000 check for forwarding an email to all his friends. Also, Owl lost his kidney once when he woke up in a bathtub packed full of ice while staying at a hotel.

Yeah? I'd probably of tried to eat it, but that's why they make chocloate and vanilla.
Oh, the spiders, the doctor at the emergency room (okay, my neighbor who's a nurse on the phone) said they were "Brown Recluse Spiders" and they were very friendly... or poisonous... let's see, she was poisonous and they were friendly. I think that's what it was.

Yell "ILLEGAL" at it, if it runs you have yourself a Mexican spider for sure.
From there you will have to figure out what kind though.

By the way, if it is a Mexican spider, it would be making the webs American spiders refuse to weave.

Ridicule, or at least the blatant hijacking of a thread as the source of levity really ought to be expected when you turn to FReepers for advice when it's not about guns.

If it were in my house any identification would have to be done using whatever was left on the bottom of my shoe. Nothing gets to live in my house unless it either pays rent or gives me a tax deduction.

We are north of Dallas, south of Oklahoma.
I thought fiddlebacks only like dark damp places?
This part of the kitchen is near a large window and
pretty bright. The baker's rack has a grid-like shelf,
not solid, so it's pretty much open space under there.
The spider itself is about 1.5-2 inches long. I blew up the pic to see it better, so it's not quite chihuahua size like it looks, LOL.

All these pics of spiders is making me feel the creepy crawlies now....ughghgh. I generaly don't mind them, but seeing many makes me start "feeling" things crawling on me...

Doesn't look like a brown recluse. Does it have 6 eyes in 2 clusters of three? If not, it isn't a brown recluse.

"I've been killing spiders since I was 30".
