There are three vastly underappreciated starts in football: Curtis Martin, LaDainian Tomlinson, and Marvin Harrison.

The original article lists four underappreciated baseball players - three of which are or were Baltimore Orioles (Frank Robinson, Eddie Murray and Rafael Palmeiro). Very interesting...

I think there's a lot of bias in sports reporting. In the world of sport reporting there are the big money teams and players but nobody else exists.

" If this is not a Hall of Fame career than what is???" Maybe somebody who didn't cheat to get the numbers?

Maybe somebody who didn't cheat to get the numbers? Oh, you mean like Mark McGuire, Barry Bonds, Jason Giambi, Ken Caminiti and Mark Canseco?

" Oh, you mean like Mark McGuire, Barry Bonds, Jason Giambi, Ken Caminiti and Mark Canseco?" I'd guess most of those guys rank right up there with Palmeiro in that category. Unfortunately, we'll never know about any of them but Caminiti. And I think you mean Jose. What was his apparently clean twin brother's name who couldn't hit?

Eddie Murray's probably responsible for his own underappreciation, or at least was during his tenure with Los Angeles.
You'd have to search far and wide to find a more sullen-appearing and silent ballplayer.

Palmiero... underappreciated?
Geeez... pay me over $90,000,000 in my career and you can underappreciate me all you want.

Eddie never got along with the Baltimore sportscasters either. The fans loved him, but the media hated him.

As a Detroiter, Al Kaline is the hero. In his last year playing for the Tigers, he refused to sign a contract with them for over 100K. He said 'No player is worth a hundred grand to play ball'. He signed for 99,900. The current players make that in 2 games.
