SLIMMER Vicki Jervis has celebrated losing seven stones by conquering her fears and taking to the skies.

Mrs Jervis, 43, of Green Road, High Wycombe, has now reached her target weight of 9 stone 7lbs.

To mark her achievement she took the plunge and flew in a fixed wing microlight plane despite having never previously flown in any type of aircraft.

Mrs Jervis, who runs a Slimming World class in Hazlemere, said: "It was a bumpy flight with a lot of wind turbulence, but the views were spectacular.

"I flew over the Wiltshire downs, where you can see the Isle of Wight to the south and the Welsh hills to the west.

"It was a fantastic experience."

No better way to celebrate weight loss than by defying death. On the other hand, her attitude is quite good: she wants to be healthier and be less burdensome on the NHS. I wonder if Bush 41 inspired her aerial exploits...

Surfing would be good. I do like this woman's reasons for dropping some pounds. I was a little shocked to read about someone wanting to reduce the burden on the healthcare system as part of their reasoning.

BTW, I doubt that you need to reduce your size in a any way, shape, or form.

I am doing it for the same reasons (now). It's all about health and vitality and looking good. No matter what I do I will never look like Britney Spears and a girl shouldn't lose weight for attention from guys anyway. I think her motivation is awesome because I think healthier citizens make for a healthy country.

The minute I can fit back into my harness I'm going hang gliding again.

Only 40 pounds...how long can that take? What? I'll be 75 if and when that occurs? Bummer.

Good for this woman.
