Agents Seize $4 Million Marijuana Stash at Border

INTERNATIONAL FALLS, Minn. - Two people were charged with drug violations after Border Patrol agents seized nearly 827 pounds of marijuana worth more than $4 million along the U.S.-Canadian border.

Officials said it was the largest such confiscation along the Minnesota border.

Gail Darwin, 62, who owns a house in the area, was charged with two counts of conspiracy to possess and import a controlled substance. Joseph Heater, 65, a Canadian who owns a house on the other side of the border, was charged with two counts of possessing and importing a controlled substance.

Authorities arrested the pair Sunday after stopping Heater as he drove away from Darwin's house pulling a trailer filled with the marijuana.

Agents seized hydroponically grown B.C. Bud, a "high-grade marijuana that's very expensive," said Lonnie Schweitzer, assistant chief of the Border Patrol's regional office in Grand Forks.

According to Schweitzer and a criminal complaint filed in Koochiching County District Court, Border Patrol officers began watching both houses after noticing sled tracks between them last month. Heater flew to St. Paul on April 4, rented the SUV in Duluth and later was seen back at his Canadian house.

Great retirement plan for these two former hippies.

You gotta cover your tracks. Literally.

A story with a dumb criminal named "Darwin" is priceless. As is any locale by the name of "Koochiching."

Oh, wait! There's MORE! A Minneapolis news station has this on their website:

Darwin bought her house in the name of Earth Healing Institute. A Web site for the Earth Healing Institute of Spiritual Learning in Woodland Hills., Calif., lists Gail Darwin as president and as a lecturer and trainer in "deep, dynamic breathing."

Well, deep dynamic inhaling, at any rate.

I knew they were former hippies.

Changing The Way You Breathe Can Change Everything

Gail Darwin, President of The Earth Healing Institute is available to deliver dynamic experiential presentations nationally and internationally to corporations, universities, schools, conferences as well as families and private individuals.

Whether you are a company or an individual your bottom line is, you want to make a profit. Your bottom line is that you want your company to be a nice fun place to be and to work in. You want it to be a good community. You want people to be happy about being there. You want productivity. Your bottom line is you want people to work together in unity towards a common cause. The one thing that every one of us has in common, whether we are the CEO or the clerk, no matter who we are; no matter what we do; we have one thing in common - the breath. We all breath. I noticed that what keeps us from getting to harmony on an individual basis is a lack of clarity, a lack of focus, a lack of energy and not working together. And so I've designed different breaths that are meant to overcome the places that we bog down in as individuals and as companies. Enter the Clarity Breath, the Focus Breath, the Energy Breath and the Team Playing Breath. What are your companies' individual challenges? It is my job to find out what's really going on in your corporation and life and adapt some breaths to suit the challenges. BREATH IS THE BOTTOM LINE!

Gail also conducts training sessions to teach health care practitioners in The Art of Open Breathing.

Cosmic Breath (one of Gail's satisfied customer's testimonials)

My first TransformBreathing session was beyond words. I had no idea how transformational and transcendental it would turn out to be. I was completely caught off guard - the experience took hold of me and took me to a place that defied all sense of reality.

At first I found it extremely difficult to inhale so much oxygen. My body was not prepared for that much life. After many minutes of breathing fully, I was suddenly moving in and out of an altered state of reality. Then I found myself tingling and vibrating unlike anything I had ever experienced.

My body became a cosmic tuning fork, vibrating to a song of the universe. I became the universe; I became the song of life. I realize I had found the song of my creation.

I vibrated and pulsed to the harmony of the universe, and with a beauty beyond words, the universe enfolded me in her arms and called me home. For what seemed like hours, I floated within the harmonious strings of this pulse, this magnificent life force surrounding and containing me.

My heart opened as a flower opens to the beauty and strength of the sun. The vibration swept through my body, finding its way home within my body. I became the Flower of all life. Life flowed through me, from me, extending out to the farthest reaches of the Universe.

For the first time in my life, I became alive. I understood my place in the universe, my place in the uniqueness of all life. For the first time in my life, I found my way home.

"As is any locale by the name of "Koochiching."

It's a native American name.

Like Minneapolis.

And Minnesota.

Oh, I knew that. I just love the way it sounds. Certain words are simply fun to say.

The one that always cracks me up (small things for small minds, I know) when I'm driving in Wisconsin is the good ol' "Ho Chunk Casino."

Sounds that way. Here's another satisfied customer (who probably has a cosmic case of the munchies:

'Gail, one very special spirit, for her laughter, light, inherent reverence for and focus on the Soul that unites us and is within us all. And for the belly joy and belly laughs. BELLY BELLY GOOD. WOW. I never thought 'SEEING GOD' could be so "SAFE AND EASY" --nor did I ever think I would be seeing Spirit in action even in the ego's expression of lower vibrations like anger, sadness, and fear. Thank you for creating an atmosphere of sanctuary and love in which we could all expand.

Breathing with you has challenged my life, my path forever. It's like Gail said - "once awake, you can't really go back to sleep". From then on, from NOW on, it's all a lesson, a beautiful lesson. '

Koochiching:

This county, established December 19, 1906, bears the Cree name applied by the Ojibwe to Rainy Lake and also to the Rainy River and to its great falls and rapids at International Falls. It is translated by Rev. J. A. Gilfillan as Neighbor Lake and River or, under another interpretation, a lake and river somewhere. He remarked that this word is of difficult or uncertain meaning and that, although in common Ojibwe use, it does not strictly belong to that language.

The only way to win this war is to execute those who bring these drugs into our nation. I'm not talking about a trial by jury and hearings mind you, I'm talking a war and in a war you shoot and kill the enemy, no "due process" crapola.

If its good enough for the insurgents in Iraq, its good enough for their confederates who are smuggling drugs into our land and destroying our youth.

I'm just as concerned about the homegrown cultural terrorists who have created this "gangsta" sub-culture of crime, drugs and misogyny and have foisted it upon our stupid and impressionable youth. Street thugs who know how to rhyme epithets and corporate suits devoid of conscience are making millions selling mental poison to our teenagers. The "music"--and especially the almost-pornographic music videos--tell harmful lies to a whole generation: violence solves everything, excessive marijuana usage makes you popular and successful, crime is the only way to get ahead, women are merely objects of sexual release for men, and money is the highest ideal toward which one can aspire.

I'm more worried about these insurgents, in the long run, because no one is fighting them. And they are winning. Cultural entropy slowly grinds on...

If it means killing citizens with no due process, then it's far too high a price to pay. If I wanted to live in a 'tough-on-drugs' police state, I'd move to Malaysia.

nearly 827 pounds of marijuana

Another drop in the bucket. The feds smashed many stills and barrels, but Prohibition still failed.

We don't give due-process to enemy combatants. The courts have ruled on this in the past and agree with me. Just imagine giving some German soldiers captured in combat the "right" to an attorney! That is what you are basically asking us to do.

If some US citizen is bringing drugs into our nation, at a time of war, they are aiding and abetting the enemy, the drug-lords. They at that point become traitors to the nation and there is but one penalty for treason.

Believe me, the war on drugs and if we win or lose it, and attacking it in a "due-process" manner like you and the ACLU advocate, is far more important than the important war on terrorism.

LOL! Now that I think of it, "Koochiching" reminds me of "Itchykoo Park," that awful song Rod Stewart sang way back when (with the Faces???)

They have also ruled that citizens who smuggle drugs are entitled to due process. By your criterion, I win this debate.

wait wait wait...

smuggling drugs is eqivalent to treason for you?

sheesh, I hope I dont jaywalk!!!

Seriously though, what John Kerry did was treason. What Aldrich Ames did was treason. Whatever smuggling these idiots are doing is certainly a crime, but it isnt treason.
