That said, the part about taxes as part of the GDP, that isn’t the complete picture. Between state, city and county in addition to the federal governments 20% share, you’re looking at about 43% of the US GDP being government in some form.
Entire markets are defined by government today and people don’t even perceive it. Between FDA, CDC, NIH, DEA, making rules, the federal governments share through Medicare, Medicaid, the VA and a slew of other programs, US health care is defined by government. You can’t get a nasal decongestant in this country without a DEA reporting requirement. Hahaha - and people think you have a private market, choice, liability...
