Take that, zombie! Over at Breaking Defense, Bill Greenwalt aims a blast to the cranium of one of the most deathless talking points—myths, fallacies, call them what you will—of U.S. defense policy. Namely, the casual claim that because the United States spends more on defense than the next X countries combined—X usually being defined as ten or upwards—it is so crushingly superior that it need not spend more and could probably get away with spending less on the armed forces.
No. It is not the case that the competitor that spends the most automatically wins. You can gun down this undead idea time and again—yet, like a zombie horde, ten more like it come shambling at you. It is the fallacy that refuses to die.
But there is hope. Greenwalt reviews some recent reportage indicating that the premise itself may be false. America may not even be the world’s biggest spender in real terms, let alone spend more than the next ten countries combined. His verdict: “despite China’s ridiculously low official defense spending figures, the value of its defense budget may have surpassed what the U.S. actually spends on defense.”

Whether in nominal or real terms, both Russia and the PLA are light years ahead when looking at the marginal benefit from extra military spending. In simple terms, an extra dollar to the Pentagon will now go into some sort of junk science global warming initiative, castration surgery for tranny recruits, or harrassing domestic political opponents. Meanwhile Russia is building nuclear drones and China is building everything else and the kit is light years ahead.
If an American Presidential election is ‘for sale’, what does ANYTHING matter ??
We waste most of what we spend. China doesn’t.

A similar question could be asked about the Supreme Court. It is neglecting its duty to uphold the Constitution. It is little more than a rubber stamp for the expanding powers of the Deep State.
:Stop Saying The U.S. Military Spends More Than China (It Might Not Matter)”
Well, I say it here to troll people, because, believe it or not, even people RIGHT HERE take the Leftist bait and think that China’s announced military budget can be compared dollar to dollar with ours, and therefore we have nothing at all to worry about.
Anyway, the writing was on the wall regarding China by 1990, but we were all wrapped up in ‘social issues’ so we ignored them. At this point, I don’t see how we can catch up - we’re a divided country consuming ourselves in the process...my only hope is that China is nice to us for the rest of my lifetime.
You can spend all you want on defense. However with the Left in charge, it will be squandered quickly. Its a given that if there is a big war, many young , brave servicemen will suffer and die due to the poor leadership of the political pole climbing, militarily incompetent generals and admirals who are now at the top.
The SCOTUS is, as you say, a rubber stamp for the Deep State.
US politics and especially our SCOTUS are the most visible and overwhelming examples of JUST how much money is floating around in DC.
Nothing else explains the behavior of some of these people or the way long-standing and established protocols are being subverted, right in front of out faces.
A few things come to mind:
We probably pay more to soldiers than our closest “competitors”.
We are furiously weeding out patriots and assembling a military populated with social justice warriors, trannies, gays, and assorted other misfits.
Our military is loaded with waste. When I served, we had a budget. A the end of each quarter, we had to spend every last nickel to avoid budget cuts. So, off to Servmart we’d go buying all kinds of crap we didn’t need.
When the president has become corrupted by foreign agents, his cabinet and advisers and now his generals are all appointed because they are no better than the president, weapons do not matter.
The French were better armed than the Germans and yet we had Vichy France.
Those who think we could never have “Vichy America” just do not learn from history.
Those who think bubba and his AR-15 will keep the Chinese from just walking in an open door are wrong. Eventually Bubba may make them want to leave, and they might, but the bloodshed leading up to their exit would be horrendous.
The US military is a captive market for the "defense" industry, a federal jobs program, and a military style colonial police force. And not your friend.
Thanks for your service but I’m sure patriots still far outnumber “misfits” in our military today, and I hope we all remember their sacrifices, especially on Memorial Day.

It is not disrespectful to note what the people in charge are doing to the military. Minor example, the Space Force officer who was fired for saying bad things about Marxism.
I agree, the majority in the military are fine people, but how long will that be the case?
And no, that does not diminish, or disparage those who served in the past, myself included.
It’s also the extreme inefficiency of our spending. All our planes cost $100 million and boats $1 billion. The problem is if we ever get into a real shooting war these assets are too expensive to risk losing.
Those in power want to stay in power. And they want more of it.
The Founding Fathers understood this well and tried to protect us from such dangers. Sadly we did not heed their admonitions or examples. We squandered their great and precious legacy.
Back the graft and corruption out of defense spending (and all the other spending) and then what do we have.
One factor here that wasn’t really looked at is that China doesn’t care whether it wins the war. Their intention is to use their massive population to pick of the pieces of what’s left. Their whole country is collateral damage. And if they can get other lands around them in a trade off of peace negotiations, they win.

Oh no. Here comes the Yellow Peril.
Taiwan would brutalize China if they were stupid enough to try to invade. No, China's plan is to use PR and threats to get their enemies to surrender. From the looks of this page it looks like it's working.
Yep, unfortunately!!
The only war that is coming is against the U.S. military in the U.S. and everywhere else the U.S. military is stationed. Then after they take out the U.S. military totally, the EVIL CIA and All their domestic and foreign enemy cohorts will start mass-murdering the American people, and peoples of other countries simultaneously, etc. since the U.S. military will no longer be in existence.
