Dems in Washington are picking up where the Obama administration left off in 2016 on the subject of "smart guns" and mandating their exclusive sale.
Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney joined with a group of anti-gun advocates this week to raise the curtain on proposed legislation that would mandate a fundamental change in firearms technology in America. The New York Democrat's bill would require all new handguns sold in the U.S. to use “personalized” technology within five years and extend its usage to legacy firearms offered for sale within 10 years.
WHAT IS A "SMART GUN?"
Smart guns, typically employing some sort of authorized-user technology like a fingerprint or passcode to unlock a firearm, are not a new concept. Perennially “just a couple years away” for over two decades, few attempts have made it to commercialization. One, the $1,200 German-made Armatix iP1, was introduced in 2014 but failed to make headway on the market. The .22LR pistol, which required an RFID-equipped wristwatch to be able to fire, could allegedly be hacked with a $15 magnet and jammed with radio waves.
This has left a bad taste in the collective mouths of gun owners who are reluctant to trust such unproven technology. A survey published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine in 2019 found that 70 percent of gun owners surveyed would have a concern about whether the tech would work when needed and only 5 percent would be very likely to buy such a firearm if it added significantly to the gun’s price.
WHAT'S IN MALONEY'S BILL?
The new Handgun Trigger Safety Act would require that, within five years of it being signed into law by President Biden, all newly manufactured handguns must be personalized so that they can only be operated by authorized users. Ten years after it became law, anyone selling a handgun must..

“Only you are able to pull that trigger,” and that buying a smart gun is the “single most consequential thing you can do that’d have no impact on the Second Amendment.”
This Ping List is for all things pertaining to infringes upon or victories for the 2nd Amendment.

All secret service and law enforcement officers must be fitted with smart gun technology first.
i do not think they will go for it.
and yes, it is an infringement...
Sadly, any that I may or may not have had never were smart enough to know to put on life jackets when in the boat. Just sayin’..................................
If forced to buy a “SmartGun”, I would immediately disable the technology. I want a gun smart enough to shoot every time I pull the trigger. The smart component is and ought to be the person aiming the gun.
In the end, any such technology will come down to some kind of mechanical block, which can be disabled.
How about “smart” abortions.
Somebody always dies in an abortion.
The whole point of Smart Guns technology is that there will also be a requirement that allows law enforcement to disable them remotely.
I am not you will be able to disable the technology without disabling the firearm. I suspect that you will have to purchase or build illegal retrofits.
Are they going to retrofit Zip guns?
Before the gang member sells them on the black market?
Only if they are smarter than the hoodie.
In the end, any such technology will come down to some kind of mechanical block, which can be disabled.

Or electronicly powered components instead of springs and strikers.
Electro magnets, etc.
With the frame blocked to prohibit manual firing pins, for example.
So, ten years after this becomes law, ALL EXISTING firearms must be retrofitted with “smart gun” technology before they can be sold? Impossible and they know it. But the only way they can enforce this law is through universal registration which ALWAYS leads to confiscation.
If the gun is really smart, it will have a camera connected to facial recognition.
Then a quick and easy WiFi search to see if the target needs to be shot.
This will totally eliminate police shooting persons at the wrong address.
And any black face will be automatically safe.
And those ‘rioters’ on the Jan 6 FBI poster will be guaranteed targets.
Not necessarily. Remington has a rifle that fires the primer electronically. No firing pin. It requires a special piezoelectric primer.
Its all talk. Its not happening.
One that works each and every time you activate the bang switch and isn't pointed at anything you don't want to shoot. I call mine Einstein.
In the past these obscene bills died in committee but now that the dems feel emboldened, hold tight to your firearms, at least the ones not lost in that tragic boating accident.
I’ll retrofit my own guns after the military and police retrofit theirs.
Sen Marco Rubio Bill Bans “Domestic Terrorists” From Purchasing Guns. Are You On That List? - Uncle Sam’s Misguided Children
The leftists believe that there millions and millions of “domestic terrorists” just waiting to kill them…most of whom are legal gun owners, not terrorists. Florida Senator Marco Rubio has proposed a bill that feeds into the paranoia of the left by creating a database of people only suspected of being a terrorist. Suspect, not convicted, which is the problem with all of these kinds of ideas.
The problem with intelligence is that sometimes it’s not intelligent.
Marco Rubio re-introduced the Terror Intelligence Improvement Act on Feb 2nd.
Here are the features of the act from Marco Rubio’s website:
“The Terror Intelligence Improvement Act would:
