Are we now in a time of such division and separation from each other in American Society that there’s no chance of unity, for reconciliation, nor coming together to find the simplest and most basic of common ground? Are the differences between Republican and Democrat, Liberal and Conservative, Leftist and Traditionalist, Patriot and Globalist too deep for any possible reconciliation?

Sorry, you are wrong. You are not being cynical enough. The mayors and governors are ALLOWING this unrest to continue only for purely political reasons; to hurt Trump. After the election, no matter the outcome, there will be a "cleanup in aisle 9". The MSM and the Democrats ( I repeat myself ) will accept the outcome because even if the Orange Bad Man wins in 4 years they think they got this.
The MSM and the Democratic mayors/guvs will clean up this mess up because they really don't want this destruction ether. Same with COVID. The hoax is over in November.

So if New England becomes an independent country, what’s to stop other states or regions from seceding too, and creating more countries?
Could we see the states of the United States eventually all becoming independent countries? Could the United States dissolve into multiple nations, as did the old Soviet Union?

Why did he leave out “blacks and whites” which is at the core of most of our divide?
Especially since later in the article he mentions that blacks are most in favor of secession! I think that is good news and whites should take them up on it.
There needs to be three countries. Blacks only, whites only and a mixed race country for the masochists who want to keep enjoying the “vibrancy” of diversity like we currently have. That way everyone is happy and in control of their destinies.
It would be great if there was also a way to separate the left from the right, but that’s a harder one to pull off because there is no physical marker that identifies a leftist from a rightist. People are not statically one or the other.

I have been saying for 35 years that the nation was in a civil war, but the shooting had not started. Well, it had now. We need to peacefully sunder the nation to avoid a violent civil war. Well, it looks like we will have one.
Decades ago, I read an article about online news sources. The author talked about how people would gravitate to sources that agreed with their ideology. The result would be two or more camps of people whose view of reality would entirely different from each other. He was right.

But plenty of people commented on you can not find common ground with one camp who don’t want to co-exist only to completely dominate over you.
