.a true piece of American History has passed away....

We should all be grateful to this man as well as the others who paid the price for freedom. It is sad looking at what our nation has become and to even have a passing thought that our soldiers have fought . . .some died in vain. I am so glad that my mother and father, both WWII Veterans, are not alive to witness the current ongoing unpatriotic mayhem as well as blasphemous rhetoric toward our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. God will not be mocked. Our nation was birthed to evangelize the world. . .perhaps we are witnessing its final hour as a Republic. https://www.patburt.com/

We must not despair because Christ remains with us. In the end, He wins.

Read last night that less than 2 percent of WW-II veterans are still alive... about 300,000 out of 16,000,000.

I have a neighbor that’s a WWII Vet that’s 93 YO. He enlisted in the Navy and served the last few months of the war in the Pacific on a boat that went from island to island carrying mop up troops. He never saw actual combat himself, as the Japanese navy was pretty much extinct by the time he got in.

He was born a poor hill billy (there’s nothin’ wrong with that) and through good business practices, became a very, very wealthy farmer. There is absolutely no arrogance in this guy.

I’d say erect a statue of him, but the losers of Amerika would probably tear it down, and be applauded for it.

My wife's uncle Bud is a WW2 Navy Vet,is 95 and still kicking. He was on a supply ship. He lives in my late mother in laws house (his sister) worked in the steel mill his whole life and never married. We let him live there rent free and he pays his bills and the property taxes. We go over there everyday and check on him. Yesterday the Mrs. made him some chicken and dumplings with a peach cobbler dessert. He's a bit hard of hearing but still gets around!

SRManuel,

Thank you for posting about this brave veteran’s passing. He was a member of Company A, 116th Inf, 29th Inf Div’s that was in the initial wave of the D-Day invasion on Omaha Beach. He was a survivor of the ill-fated Company A, often referred to as “The Bedford Boys.” 19 members of Company A died that morning and nearly all of them from the small town of Bedford, VA, as they were in a National Guard unit.

I read the Book, The Bedford Boys.....really enjoyed it.

Until last year at the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings, I had no idea that anyone from that company was still alive...

We occasionally see 29th Division soldiers around town here in my neck of Florida because it is a Guard unit. One time a soldier tore his blue & gray patch off his shoulder and gave it to my kid. That was pretty cool and made his day.

. . .some died in vain.

Many died but as long as an American considers themselves
a free person it won’t have been in vain.

Fwiw, when I was assigned to HHC, 29th IN DIV (L), I routinely carried 29er patches in my uniform pockets, as numerous kids wanted one.
