VANITY--Going to Nashville TN on a business conference/personal vacation. Recommendations?

Posted on 06/24/2020 11:24:12 AM PDT by AbolishCSEU

Going to Nashville TN (first time staying in TN) on a business conference/personal vacation. Any must see tourist items? Restaurants? Tips, Avoidances?

Going there 9/22 and leaving for home on 9/29. The biz part is pretty much scheduled with it's own agenda on Wed-Fri. After that it is free wheeling.

Alfred Pennyworth is probably safe.

Commissioner Gordon or Chief O-Hara might be in trouble.

Hattie B’s. I prefer the tenders over bone in.

The Hermitage (Jackson’s house) is interesting.

We really like Jack’s and Demos’. Also downtown and another location in Franklin is Puckett’s Grocery. For “local” burgers and fries Gabby’s is great but a little off the beaten path. If you visit the Hermitage, there is nearby the Hermitage Steakhouse which is good, but a little $$ and only open for dinner.

GTH OUT. Reports of rampant China virus. Spectacular crime rates. Sullen natives feeling prison fever. Run for your life to safety! Disclaimer —reports may not be timely or particularly accurate.

If you like history take a driving trip through the Cade's Cove 11 mile loop.

https://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/cadescove.htm

You can pick up a pamphlet describing all the sights at the beginning of the loop, drive at your own pace, stop where you wish, and take your time. The old churches, the one room school, and the cemeteries tell an amazing tale and you will feel you are back at the time of the founding of this country.

Thanks. It’s been 12 or so years since I was there.

Go to this link to see what’s open now...still in Covid, just started modified Phase 3:

https://www.visitmusiccity.com/things-to-do-in-nashville/nashville-events

If open, you have to go to any show at the Ryman, Tootsie’s on Broadway as part of the downtown pub crawl, and the Bluebird Cafe (try to get a reservation now or you won’t get in).

Downtown is thinly populated now (normally slammed) and a lot of venues are still closed.

Plan and you’ll have a great time.

At one time the Aquarium featured a display of life in the Shimanto River in Japan. The river runs through the village where my d-i-l grew up. Don’t think it’s still there though.

That’s what I would recommend. The Gaylord Opryland Resort. I’ve stayed there and it is really something.

Visit Andrew Jacksons home (the hermitage) before the Antifags burn it down.

Monell’s At The Manor restaurant in an antebellum house. Mountains of southern cooking, sitting with strangers at big tables, chatting them up, passing bowls of food around the table. Fun!

Make sure you go to Love circle, best view of the city night or day and free. one of the guys from Big and Rich lives up there and doesn’t like people on his property so watch where you park.
