There was very much of a "2001: A Space Odyssey" vibe when the SpaceX Crew Dragon docked with the International Space Station (ISS). Therefore it just had to be done. Setting that docking event to the tune of the Blue Danube. Welcome to "2020: A Space Odyssey."
No Stanley Kubricks were harmed in the making of this video.
PING!
I think one of them hit his head getting out of Dragon. He kept wiping at the spot. Maybe that’s what you saw?
The only REAL news this weekend...sadly taking a back seat to leftist scumbags in the streets.
Amazing. Too cool.
Humans are neat. God is great.
It is fascinating seeing that crystal clear in real time. When you think of the knowledge, technology, money, and sophistication it takes for 2 celestial objects to meet at a precise point for the transfer of human beings from one to the other, it is just surreal. We see so many space movies, people get to feeling as if this is routine. It is not. It is flat amazing.
We live in an incredible age of man.
Yeah, Doug bonked his melon on the top of the hatch frame.
Just watched it. Awesome doesn’t come close to describing it!
Thank you for this link!!!!
As someone who has watched the movie 100 or more times, including twice at the Cinerama Dome the week it was released, I enjoyed your version very much.
Beautiful!
Thank you.
The modern video on Dragon makes you feel as if you are there, with the astronauts.
During some of the later coms they were told to dry their suits out. I bet they get pretty sweaty.
Thanks for posting it was nice to watch this amazing docking with the wonderful music.
He hit his head and it hurts.
Great footage, especially on the approach. I’ve tried that SpaceX docking simulator online a couple of times, and it is a bear. Just be glad none of you have to go up with me and I have to fly it in manually. I’d have us passing Elon’s Mars Tesla in about six week flat. LOL!
this is such a historic weekend for America - back to space - a time for pride and joy
and it had to be fubar’d by a bunch of low-iq Black Looting Matters idiots
Murder Hornets got nothing on how angry the silent majority is right now
You don’t think that maybe the human factors people doing the GUI in Dragon might have watched the movie a couple of times?
VERY well said ... !
Mazel tov!
“the knowledge, technology, money, and sophistication it takes for 2 celestial objects to meet at a precise point”
The math behind it has been around for hundreds of years. The computers, sensors, actuators and means of communication have been improved a lot in recent years including cost reductions and reductions in power consumption.
The humans doing this stuff are the same as they were for thousands of years — just new equipment.
Thank you so much for posting this!
