For the first time, a team of Chinese scientists made use of gene-editing techniques to make monkey brains more human-like. By the end, the monkeys, rhesus macaques, got smarter and had superior memories as compared to the unaltered monkeys.
Researchers edited the human version of a gene known as MCPH1 into the macaques. The gene made the monkeys brain develop along a more human-like timeline

Gee. This reminds me of a movie. The Charlton Heston version was the best.
I’ll past....
The scientists were later heard to be shouting “Get your hands off me you damn dirty ape”
LOL
In before the Joe Biden pics!
Beat me to it.
They really need to watch the movie to see where this ride goes...
Whoa. Don’t let any of those monkeys get away. Damn macacas are too damn smart in the first place. Get a troop of macacas that can REALLY plan ahead and use tools, what a nuisance that could be.
I enjoy conspiracy theories, for sure. I wonder. Is gene splicing already going on to a degree beyond experimentation? At what point with artificial or transplanted from animals body parts does a being become post-human? I do worry and wonder about where it leaves the human race if something is created that's physically and mentally superior to us. Then, consider the Idiocracy factor. Is the human race getting dumber and less healthy while a master race is engineered for superiority?
Scary but important thoughts.
This is a hoax. There is no “smarter gene”. Scientists use transgenetic animal models all the time to study the effectiveness of real human genes that code for human specific proteins but this experiment is not legitimate. The problem with ignorant rumors like this is that they frighten uninformed investors in legitimate gene editing research that can cure actual human diseases.
Nah, too easy...............
On a related subject, Imagine a Pit bull with the personality of a Chihuahua. :)
I wouldn’t be surprised if they already had some apes in enforcement cadres.

Given the current state of the world, they need to be making a serum or something to make humans smarter, (or at least as smart as they used to be), not trying to bring in more competition.
Its a Brave New World.
Friggin scary.
